2nd gear is GONE

Hey guys, so yesterday after coming back from my parents house with my girlfriends car, I jumped in the speed and went for a drive. I noticed a grind going in to 2nd gear that wasn't there before. Now today I cant even get it into second gear at all. From what ive read this is a common problem with speeds. Just wondering if anyone on here has had that problem and how the dealership has treated them fixing it. Thanks guys.

did u try double clutching? I has a slight grind in my old speed6 when shifting into 2nd at low revs somehow, but i know i need to double clutch sometimes when shifting into first when stopped

no its completely gone, i cant shift into 2nd gear at all.

take it into the dealer if you still have warranty

The same thing happened to my friends Speed3 and my friends Speed6! Except on the Speed6 both the 2nd gear and the 4th gear teeth were totally gone when they opened up the tranny. Time for a trip to the dealership ;)

I've experienced the same problem with my '07 GT. I was on the 401 east exiting when I suddenly couldn't pop into 2nd or 3rd gear. It felt like the slot for the gear was blocked. But it eventually went away after I started double clutching and granny shifting and now everything is back to normal.

What I realized was that I had to change my driving style. The Mazda 3 trannies do not take power shifting too well in my opinion and actually feels a little brittle at times. I came from a Honda background so I'm used to slamming and ripping through my gears but I had to stop it with the 3 because of that very issue. Good luck with the fix though!
