New M3 Sport and New Member from Kitchener

1 month owner of 2011 Mazda 3 Sport GS - Gunmetal Blue. Couldn't seem to figure how to post a picture of it.

Mods I am considering are tinted windows, a shark fin (already ordered), caliper painting, Mazda pedals. I am much older than most of you probably and I am not looking to be too 'cool' but I do want to make this awesome machine my own.

I have been checking out TM3 since I bought the car and a big thank you for all the really helpful information you guys provide.

If you bought an M3, why aren't you on a BMW forum?

... Just kidding. Expect to get ribbed for this a little, though - since BMW makes the "M3" performance car, most of us here use the short-forms "MZ3" and "MS3" for the Mazda3 and Mazdaspeed3 respectively (usage in "TM3" notwithstanding).

LOVE your choice of colour. Since gunmetal blue has been discontinued for the 2012+ model year, we're almost like a limited edition colour now. :D

Looking forward to some more pics. You can upload them to a site like flickr or photobucket, then copy the image location between IMG tags for it to show up.

I said it goes 'psssshhhhh' when I'm getting ON the throttle, not OFF the throttle. I am fully aware that a BOV is detrimental to the MS3 as it screws with the fuel trims since the stock system is recirc and is expecting such.

They absolutely work at keeping stone chips and other crap (mud, tar, salt spray, dead bits of roadkill) off the side of your car. I wouldn't install them for looks alone, they function as expected and that's all I care about.

I personally like the somewhat aggressive look the rally armour adds to the car; the fact that it's a functional mod and helps save the sides of your car from damage seals the deal and makes it an easy-to-justify mod.

Thanks Fuyuzora. I picked up a set this weekend and made it my first mod. I learned my lesson years ago when I didn't have mud flaps on my Probe. Two preludes later and now the MZ3; still got to have them.

Where did you hear that they are discontinuing the Gunmental Blue colour? I hadn't heard that at all.

Welcome! We also have a Gunmental Blue (Sport GX). Enjoy it! One thing I would recommend is the 3M clear bra. We have only had our car for 8.5k, and it already has a chip on the hood that I bought the touch up pen for.
