Completely stoked about my 2011 M3 Sport GX...

... although I don't have it just yet :). I'm finding myself trolling this site on my cellphone throughout the day in tense anticipation of finally receiving my M3 from Avante, which I've been impatiently waiting three weeks to get.

Dealt with Gautam Shah, who's a really good guy. Actually, all the Avante people are really stand-up folks. I'm so unaccustomed to car dealers being honest and up-front that I'm having to adjust my whole attitude towards Avante just to accommodate that fact. Gautam, unfortunately, has been the receiving end of my old attitude. Sorry, Gautam.

I wanted to get fog lights to complete the look, but I'm thinking fog lights really aren't so useful, are they? I don't have the car, yet, so I still have a chance.

Hey, that sounds great... hope you are happy with the car once you get it.

In regards to the fog lights... If it is something that makes you happy then go for it! I think it really completes the front end look on these cars :)

They are pretty much not very practical, but they do look good. Enjoy your new ride and don't forget to post some pics.

3 weeks is a long wait. I recall the feeling you have when I got mine two months ago.

Thanks, all.

o0aZuMi0o, it's in Velocity Red Mica. I was trying to like the Celestial Blue Mica because of how uncommon it is on the road, but I just couldn't get into it.

I know I waited a couple of months for my 2010 GS (on purpose - waiting for the sale of my old house to close) and that was a long wait. I kind of regret not getting the fogs but I couldn't justify the $700 the dealer wanted to install them when I can buy and install fogs for less than half of that. I do regret not getting the comfort package though, if anything just for the moon roof!! I still like my car though!! Enjoy and welcome!!

I wish the moonroof were an option this model year on the GX trim of the Sport. I'm thinking of asking for Xenons in place of the fogs. The value of the foglights, though, is that it would de-smile the car a little. But then I couldn't get a vanity plate that read "SMIL3" and have it make as much sense in rear view mirrors.

Welcome, and great colour choice! I've REALLY grown fond of red cars in the last few years :)

I decided to go against any modifications like foglights, because I'm leasing and the cost of these is not rolled into the full price of the car. I'd instead end up paying for the entire thing via the lease payments. This means that, when the lease is up, the dealer would have the car back but with free foglights! Or at least that's how it would work at Avante. It therefore never makes sense to buy any dealer-installed options if you're leasing--at least at Avante.

(I realize, by the way, that deciding against modifications is anathema on this board! :) )

you can still do modifications on a leased car. just do a part out when your lease is up. obviously you can offset some of your costs if you can install it by yourself (i.e. fogs are not that hard at all to do).

What you suggest is an attractive option. I'll look into it. There are some mods of that type I can definitely do by myself.
