Hi guys i've been looking recently at 2010 Speed3's and have noticed a wide range of asking prices. I've talked to a few dealerships about 2011's on clearout but I like how the 2010's came with all the tech package options.
I looked up some Red Book pricing and the most recent numbers were as follows:

2010 Mazdaspeed3 new: $32 995
Avg wholesale: $19 775
Avg Retail: $22 475

I also went online to Canadian black book pricing and they came up with an average asking price of $24 000.

I missed out on a nice white 2010 in the classified section, finally got a hold of the seller but its been sold. His last posted asking price was $24 995.

What do you guys think they're worth?

+1 on that! From what I've researched after just one year you can knock off almost $10 000 from the sticker price, and with the 2012's coming soon Im thinking (more like hoping) that number can only increase.
So plain and simple, my question is: What would you pay for a 2010 Speed3?

Just don't buy one brand new and if it's brand new, make sure they give you few k off or at least 0% financing for at least 60m.

Don't buy new! Even if you buy a couple years old the value still drops like a rock. I wouldn't even buy a speed unless you plan on keeping it until it's dead.

Yeah i've never been a fan of buying brand new, because as soon as you drive it off the lot you've lost a couple thousand haha. I plan on keeping it for 2-3 years before the mileage gets too high.

Ive been emailing a salesman about this one in Whitby (im located in London unfortunetely), and I'm really hoping to get one in white but they're hard to find in 2010's.
Do you think its reasonable to try and get it for $25K tax in? Maybe throw in a couple accessories?

I got my 2010 speed3 for about 25k last month from a dealership, traded in my 2008.5 mazda3 sport GT. If buying from dealership don't forget about the 4-6% financing that's thrown in there on used cars (something to consider). But truth be told, best decision I made, do not regret one bit. If you are flexible on the colour, I saw a 2010 in velocity red at westowne mazda.

25k tax in is about 22kish.....for a new MS3?? I think it is a bit steep that you are asking.

the only issue is that it has 27K on it already, after less than a year. The price drop is crazy, but I don't know how I feel about the KM. And if there is only the standard warranty that leaves the new owner with only 50,000K and 2 years. But then again, with $9K off, you could always buy an extended warranty.

You have a good point about the mileage. I do plan on extending the warranty another couple years, and figure that cost is worth the thousands I would save from it being depreciated already.

2010 Mazdaspeed3 new: $32 995

New one with cash incentives + discounts shouldn't be more than $26 xxx + freight + pdi and hst..

If you can find one new meaning not a demo with almost full warranty.

Has anyone owned or driven the 1st and 2nd gen speeds? Just seems like such a small variety out there right now as I am hoping to pickup one before the fall.
Going to checkout this one in Orangeville on Monday

They're asking $19 988 plus hst
7 year/160K warranty, clear bra installed, 1 owner

Not sure if I would shoot myself down the road for getting a Gen1 instead of a gen2

Why are so many people complaining about Mazda especially Mazdaspeed3 resale prices? Every make of car has poor resale these days, have a look at some of the higher end cars and their resale prices. Just about any new car is going to depreciate 20 % as you drive off the lot.
The Mazdaspeed3 is an awesome car, I highly recommend getting one. I have had my car for almost 4 years and after 56,000km (Low) I still look forward to getting behind the wheel.

Hey, that's the same one as mine.. :) similar mileage and price, less the extended warranty and clear bra..

Before I got this one, I test drove the 2010 as well.. Honestly though, the car drives the same in my opinion. The main difference, I think, would be the added features on the gen 2 (foot lighting, touch start, nav, etc).. But engine and tranny should be the same in both gens (at least, that's what I know)... Oh, and apparently, the 2nd gen are a bit heavier than the 1st gen.. :)

Good luck on your hunt though.

Not true, all that trouble with that old lady was the old owners , who were fired and no longer there. They were bought out by another dealer and now have new management running the place.. Speak with John Sheldon.

Drivetrain is pretty much the exact same, the the only real difference being the exterior looks. I'd say 1st gen > 2nd gen anyway. I was never a fan of the 2nd gen and still aren't. I've grown to accept it and would choose it over say an Aztek or a PT Cruiser or Juke or something, but compared to the looks of a 1st gen it's a no brainer for me.

I'm aware of the ownership change but I still don't trust them. I see similarities in their advertising approach so I'm not convinced they've completely changed. Probably just my paranoia though and i could very well be wrong as I haven't been back since the change.

IMO i think th e2nd gen is waaay nicer than 1st gen. The hood scoop gives the front end a mroe aggressvie look. Although it has the "smiley face" grill once you see it up close and in person its not that bad. The whole tech package (proximity key, push start, navi, 10 speaker bose sound system) is an extra 4 grand. Not really worth it. Brand new 2011 ms3 (base) is like 32gs on the road. Tech package is about 36gs. I got mine (salesman demo) with 2700km for 28grand on the road. I went to maple mazda. If you are interested in going there pm me and ill give you the salesmans info that i dealt with. Good guy and pretty honest. I think they have 1 or 2 on the lot right now. Black, blue, and i think red.

The tech package (which is NOT an option on the 2010's) is absolutely awesome and worth every penny. I love all the little toys in the car that just make my life easier. I got my 2010 new off the lot for 32k with a whole lot of extras (snow tires, clear bra, extended warranty, rust proofing, etc)...there are deals to be had.

Well the 2010s had a $5500 cash incentive on them when they got paid out.. even the 2011 has $3500 off minimum on a cash deal.

The 2010s are an incredible steal if you can find one new..

Myself, I would only lease a speed3 demo.. regardless of savings, I prefer to be the one doing the breakin..
