Damn it seems to be a trend lately. Probably died from the same drugs the other 2 guys took.

First Boogard, then Rypien, now Belak. Probert earlier in the year.

Bad year, all were character guys!

I was shocked to hear the news!! Sad to hear that he passed away. Curious to hear what the cause was, he seemed to have his head on right. My understanding was he was well liked and a great character. RIP

Wade Belak worked hard every minute he played, and this is such a sad story. He will be greatly missed.

This really sucks. Belak was well liked by myself and other Leaf fans and he had a great personality when he did guest appearances on sports shows. Definitely will be missed.

Well that's your problem, you don't watch enough hockey lol.

Didn't you ever listen to 102.1? They always had him on the show.

occasionally. havent listened in a good while, for obvious reasons :P

i'd occasionally listen to it in the shop van, but i could never pick it up in my car or home stereos

all i gathered over the course of the day, from listening to the radio, was that he played for the leafs. anything good about him? comparable to sidney crosby or gretzky?

haha no, but then again Crosby is no good since he can't play anyway.

I've had the privilege of golfing and having a meal with Belak on a couple of different occasions. He always had a story to tell and was always genuinely interested in what those around him had to say. I can remember having a conversation with him about music and how much he enjoyed heavy metal. He suggested a few bands that i still listen to now a days.

He was always in a good mood when i met him, and according to some mutual friends, that was wade. His spirits were always high regardless of the situation. Always a joker, always smiling and most importantly always looking out for those around him.

RIP Belak

Horrible news, this has really bothered me since I heard about it yesterday. Dean Blundell and the boys are obviously off today and likely tomorrow too. Understandable.

RIP Wade

What a sad story. I can't understand why this is happening, so many young players... i am beginning to think its a conspieracy and someone is trying to kill them off :whoa

Why would he kill himself? Loads of money, family and retired. Sad :(

Super sad to hear.

I was at the game. The place went nuts, Belak chants for the rest of the game.

It's really sad hearing everything on the radio today.

There are rumours that he hung himself, though though nothing has been confirmed (and I don't care for speculation especially if it isn't true). :(

Police responded to a call saying a body was hanging in a room at the tony 1 King West hotel and condo building where Belak was staying while rehearsing for CBC’s Battle of the Blades.

Couldn't deal with his troubles going on mentally I guess. No amount of money, family and fame can help that and sometimes can make it worse. I really liked the guy, this was sad news to hear the other day. My friend bumped into him at the bar he was at and had a beer with him that night/early morning before he did what he did... shitty buzz man.
