So I'm in a desperate of an application. Don't know what it's called but what i need is an application that will limit the peak output volume on my Computer without to affect the lower end, essentially cap it as a specific db level.

The problem i have is that with movie they really ramp up the volume on some action scenes and make it too loud to listen to while in my room without disturbing other people but if i turn it down i can't hear the dialog at times and i can't watch it without constantly playing with the volume.

Any one know a software that can do it?

Can't really think of an application but I just use my headphones and play with the volume at times when I can't hear

That is exactly what i want to avoid, i listen to it on my speakers as i do work in my room without having loud noises disturb or wake up other people

Try using VLC viewer and using the audio equalizer tab. Use the speech setting which emphaisze the human voice and then lower the overall volumne down.
