I am hearing a clunking noise under acceleration or deceleration. Especially when I shift gears. As soon as I push in the clutch under speed, I hear it, I also hear it as I accelerate while in gear.

It is a short duration clunk maybe twice to three times and stops when my speed evens out and I cruise.

Any idea's? I have read many threads saying engine mounts, brakes, suspension mounts but I am unsure.

The dealership said I need rear trailing arm bushings, and front sway bar bushings and the rubber pads that the suspension sits on but this was all before this noise started. They also quoted me $1300 for all the work, but at that point I will buy all bushings and do it myself. My car has 120,000KMs and is a 2007 hatch.

check the engine mounts and make sure they're not broken
also check the rear engine mount for any rocks trapped in it

Does it sound like it is from the passenger side?

No it is definitely on the drivers side. It is either suspension or motor mount related I think. I will have to pull each motor mount one at a time and inspect. Its driving me crazy and I know if I take it to the dealer they will quote me $500 for a $50 part and a couple of hours of my time.

I will check the motor mounts. Today in the rain it stopped for a while. I think it is the rubber of the motor mount rubbing when I shift.
