Hi all...I've got jury duty beginning on the 26th and I want to know if anyone else has completed jury duty at the Newmarket courthouse any time recently as I've been told that it works differently at each location.
My brother's experience at Newmarket 10 years ago was that he had to go every Monday for 3 weeks unless he was selected for a jury and then the schedule was dependent on the trial. Another friend in Mississauga had to go every day for a week.

If employer will be paying full pay while your on jury duty, why not! Besides, it will be a good experience.

^ I received the letter to go in the spring but had to defer because of travel plans and my company will pay me for it so I figured it would possibly be an interesting experience...but their is also the potential for it to be incredibly mind numbing.
Jon...if you want we can exchange cell numbers via PM.

Ok, I will send in my forms today. I'll let you know if I am going to the same courthouse as you.

I had jury duty in Brampton a few months ago. Was not selected and spent 95% of the time in the waiting room. If I was selected it was for 3 weeks and the case was against a child molester.

What forms?
My letter just told me when and where to show up.

My letter has some questions I need to fill out first, mail it back to them within 5 days and they'll let me know.

So for Jury Duty, they assign a court location close to where you live or they assign you to go anywhere they want you to go?

They assign it based on the judicial jurisdiction of your home address. All Vaughan residents...actually I think its all of York Region...go to Newmarket.

Oh ok, so I guess I will be assigned in the Toronto region. I'll wait and see. Thanks!
