Recently one of these Gas stations popped up in my neighborhood and offer gas at a 2-3 cents less then everyone else.

Anyone ever heard of them let alone used them before, and is it worth it? or should i stick to shell/esso?

There's absolutely nothing wrong with Pioneer gas. Been using it for years with all my vehicles.

+1 Pioneer has been in my home town forever always a few cents cheaper then the petro and esso which are right across the street. Never had any difference in miliage when filling up with one compared to the other.

Husky, sunoco, pioneer, upi and petro canada all use SUNCOR energy gasoline.

They recently merged everyone together bringing the husky brand more into ontario and promoting petro-canada as there premium gas station, with 94 available at most petro canada locations aswell as the new glide car wash and the superworks wash at locations outside of large cities.

No i dont work for the gasoline giants but i do know about the gas that goes into my car : )

Personally i dont use esso or shell gas, And i try to only get gas at the same location, in the evening or when it is cooler, and never while they are refilling the tanks or while the gas station is busy.

Anyone else picky about gas? Lol!

Oh, and if your wondering why the prices are different if there using the same gasoline, well thats how they keep you buying suncor gas and not imperial gas ;)

Bestbuy/futureshop anyone lol?!

More important than the name on the sign is how the station is run. When I was younger, I worked at a GOCO gas station by my house. Our fuel came from the exact same location as the Sunoco station across the street. Literally, we bought the same gas.
When the station was new, it was widely regarded in my town to have better gas for a cheaper price. I used to get 500 - 550km / tank with my Escort wagon. But due to improper and neglected maintenance, condensation and water would build up in the tanks over time. Years later, when I worked there, I was lucky to get 400km / tank.

Thanks, I was just a little worried because i was told by a mechanic that costco gas is the worst quality out there which is why its so cheap, was wondering if pioneer is the same

^ you think Esso/Petro is any better? Yikes.

Ultramar is popping up everywhere lately and I tend to see significantly better mileage from using their gas, despite the fact that their gas is usually a solid 2 cents cheaper than everyone else..

I get the best gas mileage with Costco gas and Shell. Unfortunately there is no Shell or Costco station within 5 minutes of my house so that last minute fill up usually happens at Husky (I used to use petro can exclusively when I first got my car just for petropoints but NEVER anymore).

Some corrections to the above...

Suncor used to own the rights to the Sunoco name in Canada, which was an Ontario only gas station brand. When Petro-Canada was put up for sale, Suncor bought Petro-Canada - since it was a National brand. Having a National brand to promote (rather than Ontario-only), Suncor converted all Ontario Sunoco stations to Petro-Canada.

However, as part of the deal to buy Petro-Canada, the government didn't want Suncor owning too many gas stations in Ontario, so Husky bought a number of old Sunoco locations.

What this means is that Husky isn't part of Suncor.

Pioneer used to be in a partnership with Suncor...that was over a number of years ago (Pioneer no longer sells 93 octane, which was basically Sunoco 94). They no longer state who they get their gas from.

UPI is the only one in that list, in addition to Petro-Canada/Sunoco, that is part of Suncor.

I used to use Shell 91 because it got better gas mileage (no ethanol); however, I now use ultra94 to run the timing that I do....there's word that ultra94 is closer to 98 octane.

Just an FYI.. Costco IS Shell fuel. I asked the truck driver and he had the sheet from Shell in his hand.. I ran it in the Speed3 and run it in the G37 and it is fine and always has been.

The reason Costco is so "inexpensive" (2-3cents/liter) is because they sell it for pennies on the dollar; its a convenience. Don't forget, you pay a membership fee every year to belong to the Costco club.
