Wow those are low premiums... unless I don't know what a premium is? I am paying 1000 bucks a year for no collision on a 16 year old car. Might I add I have been driving for 9 years straight with a clean record.
Once I need get a car that required collision I'll have my premium doubled.

if ur paying 1000 a month and you have a clean record, no accidents, and no tickets i think its time for you to shop around for new insurance.

Mine is $3000 a year.
- no tickets, ever.
- one at fault collision three years ago.
- one not-at-fault collision seven years ago.
- a downtown Toronto postal code that all insurance companies hate
- street permit parking
- Corporate discount from employer (five insurers, $250/mth was the cheapest. Even with the discount, other 'affiliate' insurers quoted me upwards of $350 and $450 per month)
- not to date myself but I'm year of the rooster lol

Sorry, can't edit my post. Forgot to mention that I also did not have the in-class drivers ed course. Apparently, this really matters for many auto insurers as it prompts you for it during online quotations.

I remember the insurance companies blaming the high insurance premiums on natural disasters, 9/11 and now insurance scammers and organized crime. I guess they've found a reason that isn't so dependent on current events.

I just back from Montreal today and beleive me, stay where you are.
Qc's roads are crap, is like off road drive even when you are on the big boulevard. Not to mention, they are "trying" to fix the over pass after few of them collapse. Fixing over pass, means construction.....can you imagine DVP close down to 1 lane? That's what happen in Montreal now.

Back to topic, the reason why Qc premium is much cheaper is because the health, disability and LTD coverage is limited in case if an accident. Ontario insurance company pay so much on those body injury and collision repair. With all the insurance fraud, insurance company needs to raise the premium to a certain level. Yes, they may still rip you off, but that's the cause of why insurance premium are high in ON.

I used to pay 62 a month with my MP3 in MTL and then $148 when I insured it in Mississauga.

The rules for th injury claims in ontario have recently changed. From my understanding on it and what you have just said. They seen to be more like quebec rules.

You are comparing to Quebec because they can't sue... how come it's cheaper every where else STILL that can sue.?!

I don't know about the laws in other places. Nor did I know them in Quebec. I just know that the laws changed to a maximam settlement and some other things. I will try and dl the new laws tomorrow and post them up.
