Anyone here big into a good cup of coffee?
Where do you go for your coffee? Do you brew your own? Grind your own beans? Roast your own beans? French press, automatic drip, perculator?
What constitutes the perfect cup of coffee for you? What are some tips for getting it "just right"?

For the last while I've just been using Starbucks House Blend whole beans, grinding double the reccomended amount (so for 6 cups of coffee, I'd grind the equivalent of 10-12 cups of beans). I haven't been very adventerous yet because I like the results I'm getting now.

On the road, I usually stop at Starbucks for a Pike blend, or Coffee Culture (but CC usually isn't as good)

I worked for sbux for 7 yrs as a store manager in 8 different stores. In fact I met my wife there (she was also a SM at the time)

Pike is okay, my favourite would have to be Verona, and second is Christmas Blend when available. French press of course.

Sadly, now I drink more Timmies/McDs more than anything.

we ( my wife and I ) have a close friend that worked many years as well as a store manager for starbucks and the Christmas Blend is indeed the Shiznit! and Verona as well..

French press is where its at, something about having coffee pushed throught hot water makes it better lol.

as of late I have also been pretty much Timmies all the time, just so convenient, at some points the only requirement is that its HOT. anyone else drink it with Milk like myself? dont like Cream for some reason in my coffee.

ps i average 2-3 XL a day! yeah.. excessive i know.

Yeah at Tim's I sometimes ask for milk, and at Sbux I usually use half and half. I forgot about Christmas blend! Should be available soon, right??

We have a Tassimo at home, so in the morning it's a Nabob Breakfast Blend for me. (Because I can't find the Starbucks discs anywhere anymore...)

If I need another caffeine kick, i'll usually just go to Timmies.

But yeah, Starbucks Christmas Blend is fantastic.

Chronic coffee drinker here. I'm one of those old people who have a decently old coffee machine at home, but love the way it brews it.
Too impatient for a french press when I have a foot out the door in the morning, but it is the best way to do it :)
Only have my coffee with a touch of milk, dont like cream in it as much, gives it a denser taste, not as easy to drink.
Also being on UWO campus, i think we have something like 14 timmies and 2 bucks on campus? Always try to go to starbucks for a Verona, the timmies coffe always tastes burnt.

Oh, and mcdonalds > timmies coffee, same supplier but a higher grade.

I actually heard Timmies switched suppliers and as soon as they did McDonalds picked up the old suppiler........pretty sharp move by Rotten Ronnies if you ask me.

I'm more of a fair trade coffee drinker. Though if I have to get coffee from a super market, it'll be Illy espresso beans. Grind them myself (burr grinder), french pressed, moka, or aeropressed. For pod machines I have a Nepsresso.

Snob? mmmmm ... maybe a wee bit :P

Yea, the Starbucks T-Discs have all been discontinued due to the terminating partnership between Starbucks and Tassimo back in I think end of April. Luckily I stocked up on the Verona coffee discs when Futureshop had the B1G1 promo and I stocked up. When my stock is depleted, I will probably move on to the Keurig as there is a wide variety of different coffee beverages for that line.

That sucks. Although I don't really miss it that much...the last batch of Starbucks Verona discs that I had tasted like cigarette smoke.

When you make a fresh pot of coffee, use your regular grinds -1 scoop and substitute that scoop with flavoured grinds (hazelnut or FV).

Anyone remember what their old stuff tasted like? Yuck.

McDonalds can be great, but I find it's hit and miss, much like Tim Hortons (although Tim's is much more miss than hit)

Half & Half and raw sugar at Starbucks (if they have it) is what I like. Sure it's higher calories, but at least I know what it is and what it's doing to my body. I don't like the chemicals in sweetener.

I have a grind and brew that I used to use for parties or GTG's at home - usually use Starbucks pike place

I got a Tassimo STRICTLY because of the Starbucks T-disks - which is now collecting dust cause Nabob and Mazwell house tastes like siht to me

Now I hit SB on a daily basis (if I'm not running late) which is a 10 minute run, out of my way. Verona is key - but I'll take any dark/bold roast.

I have a Timmie Ho's literally next door to my work, which I hit up twice a day if not more (****ing sick of Tims).

RUMOUR has it Kuereg is lining up a deal with Starbucks to distribute K-cups WOOT! which makes a 3rd coffee maker to join my arsenal.

I should maybe invest in a tassimo... seems to be the rage. Is it good coffee though? If I'm making just one or two cups I'd rather get a french press and go the old-fashioned route.

Don't mean to revive this, but does anyone else have any other espresso machine, milk foamer suggestions? Brought my wife to Bulldog coffee over the weekend and she loves the art they do on the lattes. Now she's tempted to try it out, and with her birthday coming up, I think it was a subtle hint to buy a machine.

Bringing this back from the depths.

Just wanted to let those with a single-serve brewer (Tassimo or Keurig) you should definitely check out "Personal Service Coffee"

They have walls of single k-cups that you can purchase individually - shiit I haven't even heard of.

My latest pick up was Marley's "One Love" organic medium roast. (Among others)

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/09/17/etebe5es.jpg

Also grabbed a few Snapple Raspberry Ice Tea k-cups that you brew over ice.

Starbucks drinker here. Absolutely would say this is my favourite. It's always consistent. Pike blend with a shot of half and half - no sugar. I can no longer drink a Tim Horton's coffee it tastes too watered down or something and it usually always gives me heartburn. I'm very curious to try this Christmas blend since everyone is raving about it.

I also have a Keurig at home which I adore. There's this store in Barrie that you can buy an assortment of different k-cups for .67c each. Bob Marley brand is amazing!!! Blue Mountin coffee!

I'm "ok" with Tims when in a crunch. But I agree - it tastes watered down. Theres a Timmies near my work - literally next door. But I bought a Keurig machine off of kijiji for work and bring in my Starbucks k-cups instead.

yup - dark roast is the shit!
Grande Dark in a venti cup is my regular order.
However - I've been following the Starbucks single-serve makers (Tassimo and now Keurig) to save money.

Speaking of hidden gems (for those of us in Ottawa anyway) I get my beans from T.A.N. coffee in Sandy Hill.

Best coffee I have ever drank.

Also if you want to try something a bit outlandish, weird and somewhat counter intuitive. Coffee + big scoop of butter (unsalted) + blender = delicious!

Bought my fiancee a Gaggia Classic and Baratza Vario grinder for her birthday about a month ago. I didn't drink coffee myself, until I started learning about brewing the perfect espresso, and the Engineer in me got hooked. It only took about 2 lbs of wasted coffee before I was pulling half decent shots. Anyone else have experience with the Classic?
