I picked up this baby on July 22nd 2011 with 5 km on the odo (though dealership said there was 30 km on it...weird)

I am coming from a 2006 Acura CSX premium that had HFP suspension and 18'' HFP wheels, so while the mazda 3 is firm, its like floating on a cloud compared to my acura.

i absolutely love it so far, the 2.5 liter engine is smooth and has plenty of power, the interior quality is amazing and the handling is superb, the hid lights are amazing and so bright (compared to my oem acura csx hids...)

Right now as of October 7th 2011 i have 2,136 km on it (i don't commute very far anymore)

Future plans include; tints, weather tech floor liners, and possibly upgrading the stereo system (though im satisfied with the sound quality of the current OEM set up)

Here are some pics of my ride:

And here is the OLD ride that i traded in....had 48,000 km on her

The Acura while being an awesome car, lacked a lot of quality. What i mean is, alot of hard plastics, rattling, things coming apart (seat cover kept unclipping). The warranty was out soon and i needed a car with more cargo room. the mazda is superior to the acura in many ways!!

I ended up getting 13,665$ (tax in) for the trade in, 500 grad discount, 72 months fincancing at 0.9% and about 1,000$ off the car (the dealership covered the reinstallation of the original suspension for the acura as well. Also gave me free all weather mats.

With the 6 year, 160,000 km mazda added protection as well as the full replacement insurance (where i get the full value of what i paid for the car if its totaled) all in all came to 314$ a month.

OTD COST: 22,608$ (includes everything)
MSRP( for all this stuff): 36,500$

How do you all think i did??

while i loved my acura and the K20 engine, at the end of the day, it was just a leatherized civic.

There were alot of hard plastic surfaces, squeaks and rattles when going over bumps, the doors felt tinny and thin when closing them, the HID lights that were OEM were nice but suck compared to the 3's projector HID system.

With the mods done to it, it was pretty crappy driving it around in montreal, it handled very well but just the potholes and bumps in the road made it unbearable.

The 3 feels like it should be in a class of its own for quality alone, the interior feels of that of a higher end car and the features that comes with it are amazing.

2.0 K20 engine got me around 33 mpg avg over 20,000 km

2.5 MZR engine is getting me so far 31 mpg avg over 2,100 km (still may improve as engine is no where near being fully broken in)

so im pretty impressed with the power, handling, design and price of this car!

Welcome to TM3! :D

Funny you mention your new car, "its like floating on a cloud compared to my acura." I have a 2010 Honda Civic Sport and I think the ride quality is better than my 2010 Mazda3 Sport GT. As for rattles and squeaks, my Civic is flawless in that department compared to my MZ3. I love both cars, just not too happy with the ride and noises my Mazda3 makes.

lol, the acura was my first car, before then i was driving my parents stock cars which all felt very soft (2005 honda civic, 2008 and 2010 civic after that) while my car had the HFP suspension and 18'' HFP wheels along with it.

If i pushed on the passenger side of the dash on my acura there would be a loud creaking noise and a flexing noise but this wasnt the issue with the 2008 and 2010 civic my parents had.

over bumps, dips, potholes the Acura would feel very very stiff (which i was able to tolerate in the beginning, i do like a stiffer ride but this was getting to be a little too stiff). My seat cushion for the drivers side seat came apart, the car just felt like my parents civics just with leather interior. the civics actually felt faster off granted they have the smaller r18 engine. the doors and paneling felt very thin and you heard this every time you closed the door.

On to the Mazda, so far no squeaks, rattles etc...ride is stiff but not too stiff to cause discomfort. there is more road noise i do admit, but i always play my music loud so i don't notice it too much. the materials in the 3 are just much better, the whole construction and overall build quality of the car i find is superior to the CSX/Civic.
