Has anyone that used the Hawk pads come across some pretty nasty squealing?

If the pads are not bed in properly this can occur.

when doing pads, you should always do rotors or make sure they are good as new

Bought the pads and rotors brand new from performance improvements. Was very gentle on bedding in and was impressed with the stopping power initially...until the VERY loud squealing started, had to take them off. Thanks for the input guys.

Which Hawk pad did you put on the car? HP+ or HPS? Or other Hawk pad?

I've had HPS pads and Powerslot rotors on my 3 for almost 3 years, never squealed once. I had them installed at reputable parts store here in Ottawa and they did the bed in process for me.

I'm planning on running the same set up again once the ones I have finally give out.

Any chance the pads were not properly lubricated, I think I remember hearing that this can cause squealing to happen.

I've had Hawk HPS pads with blank OEM rotors for over a year now and no problems with squealing at all.

I have these on OEM blanks and still loving them!

I keep reading about squeeking hawk pads. Are the HP+ or HPS that are the issue?

HP+ pads squeal because of the compounds used and Hawk even states it right in their marketing literature. They are more of a casual autocross pad.

HPS pads do not squeal when installed properly and mated with rotors that are in decent condition.

This is why I asked the OP what Hawk pads he put on his car.

Awesome, thanks for clearing that up. I will be getting a set of HPS pads when my oem breaks wear out.
