so driving home from class today i was going up whites road in pickering... guy on right side with a sign yeild to oncoming traffic. pylons on the middle lane... just pylons...one every 100 ft min. no nothing else.
well i thought they were filling the shoulder since it looked like they just placed fresh gravel since it was darker in a certian area, and also a little onto the side of the road. so i slowly yeild to the left.. on the yellow line, go back to the right and drive off, get home and look at my car and theres yellow paint everywhere on the drivers side. im livid, no signs saying wet paint or painting lines or nothing. a simple pylon. that could mean anything!
so i go back, and the gravel all got pushed to the side. took pics of the road. heres pics of my car.
my moms gonna help me write a letter to pickering. see what can be done. wish me luck please
this crap wont come off
sorry for ranting :)

Bro that sucks hardcore :(
Maybe some diluted rubbing alcohol or goo-gone will help?
This could be a good reason to paint the whole car yellow.... just a thought ;)

Or use gas
Oh yes, good idea. Gas may work as well, maybe a high octane like 91?

Wow your car got it bad. i thought it might have been a little splash but damn pretty much the whole wheel well then some.
I had to clean a car with this crap on it a couple weeks ago. its a pain to clean and the chemicals didn't work at all. i removed like 99% of it tho. pretty much wet down the area with paint take a cloth and kinda scratch it off with your finger nail while trying not to scratch the paint. took me almost an hour to do a little spray up near the front. i also used workout after to touch up any scratches that may have been made by removal. but keep in mind this was for a little bit. not this much lol. your wheel well is pretty much done
prob better off to replace under the wheel well and try and remove the stuff off the paint. City should deff compensate you tho cuz thats some BS right there.

Thats so shitty. I feel for you man. I hope that everything gets sorted out because that is bullshit how you have no warnings.
write a letter (or cc) to the star as well. there is a section about infrastructure issues (i think its called "needs fixing").

Damn, that's terrible! A suggestion to try (if you have some already) is the Mr Clean Magic Eraser. I know when one of my family's cars had paint transfer, we used that and it did get it off (not a huge section that you got or road paint). Worth a shot..

The same thing happened to my ex's moms car.
York region paid for it. I don't know the process she went through but i would suggest not doing anything drastic to the car until you hear back.
wooooow! that's terrible and stupid of them to not warn of wet road paint...
Hope everything works to your favour!

i agree with dave, take it in stride and if the city wont pay for damages, roll with it, and do some sick yellow design or multicolour oj, white, yellow or something. :D

Oh man, that sucks big time. The city definitely didn't do their due diligence with that pylon! I hope you win!
Here's my advice. Call up 1-800-268-8326 to reach the Ontario Lawyer Referral Service. It's by the government of Ontario so call them and you'll be connected to a live rep. Tell the rep what your issue is in general and they will issue you a referral number along with a lawyer near you who specializes in the matter at hand. The best part is that the reference number allows you to speak to the lawyer for a free 30 minute consultation. This should be able to provide you with some guidance. After using this service twice, I can say that there was never any pressure to pay the lawyer and they were super helpful. Good luck!
Taken from the government website:
Lawyer Referral Service - If you wish to retain an Ontario lawyer, you may contact the Lawyer Referral Service operated by the Law Society of Upper Canada. The Lawyer Referral Service will provide a name of a lawyer in your area, who provides a free consultation of up to 30 minutes. The Lawyer Referral Service is available by telephone only at 1-800-268-8326 or in the Greater Toronto Area at 416-947-3330. If you are calling from outside the province, you may reach the Lawyer Referral Service by dialing 416-947-3330. Advise the operator that you are calling from outside the province.

^^ elactrojay why doesn't he call the city first and talk to them before he starts calling lawyers?
To my understanding the city does pay up

Yea... call city first, call lawyer first... either way, in this case, it doesn't matter. If he speaks to a lawyer for free first, he would be better equipped with knowledge on whatever he'd be entitled to from the city. This would be ideal should the city offer him unreasonable compensation; something he may willingly accept without some legal knowledge under his belt.

This is similar to pothole damage and most cities will pay a legitimate claim. Most cities have a website. Just search for damage or claim and you are likely to find exactly how to submit a claim for damages.
