How much you wanna bet that's gonna be thrown out before it gets to court.
Also why the crap is he allowed to use the cruiser for private use??
ahahaha good, I always thought that cops got away with stuff like that, glad that there is some sort of equality :P And yea women cops are absolutely brutal, and I can say that from experience :$

The state trooper is probably looking at more trouble than the police officer.

WOW!!!!! What a bitch.. Lol... There's a right way of Doing things and that is definitely not it. she's just a b*tch.. It's called professional courtesy. That's ridiculous.
On a side note, when the "street racing" law came into effect here in Ontario. An OPP officer wAs charged while on duty driving to a non emergency call by OPP!!! Driving a police cruiser, and it got impounded..

from my understanding state troopers are superior to just regional police officers. I'm not sure what a State Trooper would be equivalent to Canadian law enforcement. So when I saw this I wasnt completely surprised. Even as a Canadian if you get pulled over by a trooper your f****** man or woman, goodluck!!!
great vid tho, glad to see that this actually happens, the Lord knows that doesnt happen in canada. wish it would.

watch the end of the video again she thought the cruiser was stolen bc of the speeds, so I think she reacted fairly...and to find out it was a real officer probably infuriated her more because of how careless he was and the danger he was to citizens...and the bad name it give Fla law enforcement.

State trooper= OPP
Fla police= municipal service (Toronto police)
Not necessarily "superior" just different jurisdiction.

And yes I heard that part.. Still once she found out he was actually a cop, she should have released him and notified his sergeant or staff sergeant for his disciplinary action.. Not arrest and file a report.

why not? he broke the law like anyone of us...whether he is on or off duty no one escapes the law. I agree with what she did...but we're all entitled to our opinions :P

The police should be upholding the law, the problem is that far, far too many believe that they are above the law. IMO the Miami officer got what he deserved, gotta give the Florida state trooper credit, you have to have big balls to go through with the charge.

Why?? he was off duty so he was back to being a civilian, so he is suppose to follow the law like everyone else.

hahaha i actually work for peel and cops will never get tickets here in the GTA by any region of enforcements.. but the OPP is famous for whacking everyone including themselves.. so regional enforcements try to get the OPP guys as much as possible in return haha..
the OPP story, ive heard before from the officers.. she actually got suspended for arresting him because he was on duty doing surveillance and he lost the target because he was arrested obviously.. and because of that, they didnt get enough evidence to close the case, the target was not convicted..hahah hence the suspension..

Police have and should have the right to pull over other officers. Unless you're driving to an urgent call, you have no right to drive RECKLESSLY or at speeds double the limit. From what I understand, he was driving to a private school to do a crowd control (i guess) type call. Basically the school hires a cop to keep unwanted people out (ie. famous or important people's kids). Many places have duty police hired to do such things (think of a funeral procession or something like that).
Forget this stupid code BS. It's people who think like that who lead to corruption among police. It's no different than police getting off on charges of brutality for beating up elderly people.

She also says at the end that the car/plates have been spotted doing this many times and they were never able to catch them.
I think she did the right thing.

If she saw that car and plate do it many times than she did not think that the car was stolen. If she was that concerned about the car being stolen than she would have called the FLA police and verified.
Im not denying that the FLA cop was at fault and yes he does deserve punishment. All i am saying is that there is a thing called "professional courtesy" and cops shouldnt treat other cops like that. She was on a powertrip plain and simple!

Lets look at it this way.
By the way he is driving , not signaling, no emergency lights, if he would have hit somebody else, and this trooper watched it all happen and did not pull him over, then I am sure everyone would jump the fence and say she was part at fault for not doing anything.
Just because you represent the law does not mean you can go above and beyond it, the law is a book, not a person and everybody has to follow it.
It's also nice that they get to use vehicles , paid for by tax payers, to take to a personal job to make extra money, hell, if anyone here wants to make my truck payments, gas and insurance so I can go to a 2nd job I will meet you today and take your money.
Does that mean that firetrucks should be able to take their tankers around and fill peoples pool to make extra money?

In most services the client for his off duty work would be paying for the cruiser, they pay for the officer per hour and if a cruiser fee is on top of that if a car is needed. Its not personal use.

The client also pays a admin fee to the service, so it all gets paid for.

Though I agree the cop was at fault too.. I think she went over the top (draw her weapon and handcuff him)! Thanks to her she made this a public spectacle when it could have all been handled internally (reputational risk to an organization). I think she should undergo a psychiatric evaluation as it seems the stress of the job is getting to her and she can't use rationale judgement - why would you treat your peers like this (especially in this line of work)?

Good for her. We could use more cops like her on our streets. Internal code or not.
And the female cop didn't make it a media story, the paid informants that the media has within the police department made it a story by leaking the video to the media for money. Otherwise, nobody would have known about this.

If you read my post i clearly stated that the fla cop (miami) was at fault and deserved punishment.
In a position such as a police officer where 99% of the public does not like them, why would she treat a police officer in a marked cruiser, full uniform like a criminal.
His actions were absolutely wrong and dangerous and like I stated before, he deserves punishment. The way she handled the situation was completely wrong.

No internal corrections ever happens with law enforcement. Professional courtesy my a$$. Police seemingly have authority without limitations, and typically a God complex. They demand respect but oh so often do nothing to deserve it.
Although I suppose most of us think of American police forces when we think of bad cops.

Ya, some do. MOST DONT. Cops dont do anything to earn your respect? How about putting on the uniform that 99% of the public hate because they are in authority.
Id like to see you go out there and do what they do day in and day out, dealing with the bull sh*t they have to deal with. Its easy for everyone to sit there and flap their gums when your sitting in a comfy little office and the biggest problem is who finished the coffee.
These reporters have no idea what its like and never will. They just like to criticize after the fact (everything is clear in hindsight right?). I say f-them!
They showed a total of what less than 2 minutes of actual arrest footage in that little video. Lets see the footage from earlier and what those people were doing before they got arrested or what they were told to do or not do.
Just like during G-20. Everyone was hating on the cops for not doing anything when windows were getting smashed and cars being lit on fire. Then they start making arrests and taking people down and what happened? People started hating on them some more for being too "rough" and using "police brutality".
Cry me a F*cking river!!!! If you dont want to get arrested, or pepper sprayed, or caught up in the mix. STAY THE F*CK HOME!!!!!!
Protests dont work, and when protesters realize they are not getting anywhere, it turns to violence and chaos and a mess that the cops have to clean up, and then get in sh*t for.
(this post has nothing to do with the original thread, but only in response to "swatsky" and the video that was posted. 2 COMPLETELY different sitautions!)
