i just finished rustproofing my car at Bestway for imports at weston and lawrence, Great service for the price. anywho,:bang they told me that i need to replace my rear shocks,as i lowered the car on spring, they got me a quote of $336 installed monroe rears only. i know koni is about double the price + installation, and most of members here have koni.

which one should i get koni or monroe.?
whats the pros and cons of the two.?
a friend of mine installed monroe and said that they offer lifetime warranty does koni offer the same.?

thats all the questions for now...

Sounds like a scam based on what I've read here. Just because you lowered your car does not automatically equal you need new shocks. Sure the shocks might/will wear faster because you're lower, but there's no indication that you need replacement right now.

As far as I know, Monroes are basically OEM replacements, whereas Konis are performance setup designed to run on a lowered car.

Yes, Koni Yellows also has a lifetime warranty.

I would definitely spend the extra and get Koni Yellows. They have lifetime warranty, provided you have the original receipt and you are the original owner.
The nice thing aside from lifetime warranty is that they are dampening adjustable and can handle a wide range of spring rates. The dampening adjustment will let you fine tune the ride quality to perfectly match the spring you are using. You can use them on stock springs as well.

Koni yellow's all the way! Much better quality. There is nothing I can add that the other member's haven't already mentioned.

Koni yellow are around 700 for all 4 corners and rear struts are usually cheaper than the front so do the math...

Are the Monroes OEM replacements? If so I would save more and get a shock designed for lowering instead of just another set of OEM ones.

monroes are designed for stock springs only as others have said... don't waste your time with them
if your ride feels rough and bouncy, then you need new shocks

I'd never consider Monroe - If I needed an OEM replacement I'd go KYB at least. Koni makes a cheaper, street line called SRT.T and there are the the FSDs as well that are all at different pricepoints then the yellows
