So I feel like this may be something that a lot of people don't know, or just don't care about since there isn't a lot of us sedans out there. Or I've just been left out of the Sedan loop.
I've been told by pretty much everyone I've talked to on here, at nextmod, at APH, that you really can't do much to adjust the damping setting on the rear short of tearing apart your trunk liner or removing the shock. However, I did a little investigating while I was finding a spot to store my BC wrenches and discovered you can easily and comfortably access both sides without removing anything.

On the left side I simply opened the scissor jack compartment and reached up, loads of room to to fit the hands in and work around comfortably.

On the right side I reached in over the top of the liner, it bends out of the way fairly easily and it doesn't deform it or anything, and same thing.. I had plenty of working room to adjust damping settings.. And so I did. :)

Score one point for the sedans haha

Are you making fun of me for pointing out something obvious and is common knowledge haha. Either way i'm excited cause it means I can play with the settings on the fly :)

Haha, no I'm not. On the hatch I'm pretty sure you have to cut a hole in the passenger side haha

Ya it seems like its more hassle with the hatches. And I also saw a thread someone created about how the dial rests on some sort of metal tab.. which some people cut or bend off because it can cause the dial to seize up because of the lateral pressure or something?? That tab fortunately doesn't seem to exist on the sedan as there is ample room 360 degrees around the strut mount and the dial.

And I was actually first examining the material the liner is made of because I was actually deciding on which tool would be best to cut an opening.. then I decided to see if I could just reach in.. Success!

cool, and thanks for the tips for us sedans who need to adjust dampening or who will need to in the future. :D but is this just for the gen 1s?

Good question.. my experience with the second generation m3 is a test drive. Check it out. Even if you don't have coilovers you just be able to reach under and feel the nut on the top of the strut or something?? I dunno.. I'm a carpenter not a doctor!!! sorry... mechanic.. haha

Naaaaaaa once you rip those plastic screws or nails (black round thing that keeps the mats in place you're good. Just make sure you use a screw driver when doing it or you'll have to buy a new pack of those things from Joe when you sell the car.
