I have been reading a lot about how good the prices are at Jimmy at Street Performance... my last oil change there was $50 (didnt even have a printer to print me a receipt)... that is kinda expensive. Why does everyone keep saying Street Performance is cheap?

I paid $40 + tax at agincourt mazda before which included door hinges lubrication and a car wash. Is there anything I am missing here?

Jimmy is a nice guy to deal with and I will go back to him for services but I am afraid it is kind of expensive plus no receipt facilities don't help either.

Did you bring your own oil and oil filter or did he provide it?

really depends on what kind of oil he used or you told him to use.

the dealer uses regular oil. Most shops will do oil change for you for about $30 give or take if you ask them to just use regular oil.

He provided the oil... just regular oil - Not synthetic. Its a 2.3L 2007 Mazda 3. How much have you guys paid for this at SP?

lol, thats about rite, especially if you didnt bring anything but the car. its also piece of mind that its done right.

if its really that big of a deal to save like 10 bucks, there is the option of doing it yourself, like myself and many other members do here. :D

If you install something more significant than an oil change, it will be worth your time and money to see jimmy. believe us.

it's one man running his own business.

you can go to a dealer and pay whatever you want, in the end they're making money and can afford to lose money here and there when they're making a ton somewhere else.

Jimmy charges pretty reasonable prices, and you get excellent service. When you factor in the cost of the oil, how much do you think he actually made off of your oil change?

Believe me, you didn't get ripped off. If you prefer to take your car to the dealer where you're just another nameless face, then go right ahead.

Did you join this forum just to whine about your oil change? Everyone's got to make a living at the end of the day. That's all.

Never being to street performance... I change my own oil...

To be honest $50 is not that bad... I buy my synthetic oil when it goes on sale (castrol syntec) and just under $30 and my oil filter is just under $7 so really it costs me just under $40 to change it my self

So its basically the same thing......Jimmy lubes the hinges after the oil change. And seriously, have you seen how a dealership washes their cars? If you care about your paint finish, wash it yourself. When I get offered a free wash at the dealerships, I always decline. Just a personal prefrence.

+1 Last time I had my oil changed at the dealer they were using what looked to be a broom to wash the cars and they were about to wash mine until I got the manager to run in and tell him I didn't need one.

I wasn't offended man, was just pointing out that the guy's gotta make a living, and he's a great person to deal with.

Like you said, you'll be back there again for service etc.

edit: once you pay all the taxes, he'll write up a receipt for you. just be sure to ask, I've had him do receipts for oil changes for me for warranty purposes.

edit 2: I apologize to you for my snappy tone
