$2500 on MODs

I have a 07 MS3 and am ready to blow $2500 on mods, I will spend another $100 over if needed. I am new to this and want to no what I should get with this much money. I am looking for power increase, reliability, and still want to maintain safety.

ok, seriously, you need to look at different things. When people say "power", that means a million things. Do you want to increase low end torque, high end torque, better horsepower, quicker acceleration, handling around turns, and a hundred others. Don't say "All of the above", because some cannot be combined with others.

If you want perfect reliability, don't do any mods, as anything aftermarket may have unpredictable effects.

Safety is a touchy one... Some mods may interviene on the safe factor, some may help.

You have to sit down and think what mods you want for what reason. For example; if you will be drag-racing the car, put low-end torque mods on it, maybe thinner tires for less mechanical drag, chop the A/C belt for less mechanical drag as well. In track racing you want to adjust your camber (not a good idea for regular roads, you through tires), for less mechanical drag on straight-aways but tire grip on sharper turns. Readjusting your brake distribution will be good for speedy turns, but then again, that takes away some of the safety features.

If you throw a bunch of conflicting and pointless mods (stickers included) into the car, we all call that "RICE".

*DISCLAIMER* For all those who wish to comment asking if I got this information from any racing game (Need for Speed, Grand Tourismo, Mario Kart, etc.), please note I did not and I do not endorse racing games. Some of this information coexists with racing games, but most racing games are misguiding.

From what I've read, the 3 most important mods you'd ever buy are AP, RMM and HPFP if you ever want to go the power route.

But, to begin with, I'd say go with:

RMM
AP
Intake

From there, you can go Stage 1. Everything else after that, a HPFP will be necessary (or internals for that matter). But first of all, make sure that the car is mechanically sound. :) Good luck!

as it was mentioned in your other thread, read the Mspeed mod path.

Fobio even included some estimated costs in each write up, it's actually very useful and should answer alot of your questions, as well as give you an idea of how far you can stretch the $2500.

and as I said already, it doesn't stretch very far. Cobb AP alone will cost you $600, you really shouldn't go to Stage II withought addressing the fuel pump. Internals will run you $300 to $400. A brand new cp-e fuel pump will cost you over $850-$950 plus core deposit of $350 while you send them your fuel pump, plus however long it takes them to get the pump in stock due to high demand.

Just read the mspeed mod path, they put together those threads for this exact same reason. Also check out Big Dad's for sale thread. He's selling a bunch of parts. I believe he had a fuel pump for $700. that's a good deal.

A side benefit of the Cobb AP is that it unlocks the true potential of the MS3, but the real benefit is that it let's your monitor your vehicle through logging and this feedback is what will keep your car performing well and lasting for the long term, once you learn to understand what all the info means obviously.

I would:

COBB AP, RMM, HPFP, CP-e DP + Cat.

Also, if you're going to do all this I suggest you wait till you can find the stuff used, at least some of it. Stuff like COBB AP you could get anywhere as shipping wouldn't be expensive so browse other mazda forums and wait for it to come up. Other things you're better off buying locally as shipping the bigger things is a bitch.

Forge BPV or if you really want the sound of BOV go turbo xs 50/50. That way it will recirc. at low rpm and VTA (essentially BOV) at high rpm. Please don't go BOV, just sayin.

Starscream mentioned that if you're buying internals only, it really depends on how well they're installed.. However, I've read that the fuel pump in our cars are not as good as what you would think. If it was me though, I'd go with the HPFP... Just my opinion. :)

AP - Access Port (Usually from Cobb Tuning - at least they're the only ones I know that make them)
HPFP - High Performance Fuel Pump
RMM - Rear Motor Mount
COBB - Is just Cobb Tuning, a performance part manufacturer loved by MS3 owners.

I actually paid the exact same amount for the catted dp had I ordered the right one the first time from either Nextmod or G16, which yes is still alot. so lick my balls. =)
