What is Mazda Canada up to?

Did anyone else receive this e-mailer?

Break Free from BoringIt’s time to escape, bust out, throw off the chains, and break free from uninspired performance. We’ve already helped Montreal and Vancouver break free. And we have some big things planned near you.Come see for yourself December 1, 5:30 p.m. outside of Union Station in downtown T.O. If you can’t attend in person, you can follow all the events on Facebook (http://links.mkt2854.com/ctt?kn=11&ms=Mzc2MDAwMjcS1&r=MTMyMDY1MzcxMTMS1&b=0&j=MTIwODYwNzIyS0&mt=1&rt=0) and Twitter (http://links.mkt2854.com/ctt?kn=2&ms=Mzc2MDAwMjcS1&r=MTMyMDY1MzcxMTMS1&b=0&j=MTIwODYwNzIyS0&mt=1&rt=0).And stay tuned for all the behind the scenes footage.

i honestly fail to see the connection with breaking out of prison, people walking around in orange jumpsuits and with a car... other than the obvious, getting better fuel mileage.

Still confused as to what's happening. They basically just have a car inside a box?

Gayness. I feel gay now for owning a Mazda3.

Geez what a waste. Seems Mazda Canada is trying to take the concept of a flash mob and use it to promote the New 3.

+3.

I've been seeing this nonsense as it spread onward from Montreal though, so I knew it was coming. Thankfully since Mazda seems to have skipped over Ottawa, most people here are none the wiser so I don't have to hang my head in shame. :chuckle

It's also silly since, IMHO what sells Mazdas the best is the test-drive... And this screwed-up attempt at a viral PR campaign doesn't really help with that.

Viral embarrassment is more like it.

Hopefully someone at Mazda Canada sees this thread and realizes that when a forum of freaking Mazda enthusiasts is panning the campaign, you've really, really failed.

Mazda is trying to hard... seems immature - perhaps they are appealing to highschool or college kids?

With the Vancouver video, it didn't look horrible while they were on the train. But the whole act in the mall was horribly done, it looked amateurish compared to most other non-corporate flash mobs.

"We dance, we break out of our chains, and we praise the new Mazda3." Seriously, seriously lame marketing.

On the way in this morning, passed by the display in the old part of Union Station on the upper floor. Had two people data mining with the offer of winning an i-tunes card. I told them about the video on Youtube and they stated it was "Fun" whatever that means.

Yeah, but they're trying to bring people to mazda 3's. But in reality, its driving them away...

Its not an achievement in life to just cause a "reaction"...

Are you telling me that when you're pimped out to go out Friday night, you're ok with men thinking you're hot instead of the ladies?

Think about it.

Gawd, just saw the pic of the escape students Aitch posted up. Hell no knock on them, when you're a student or a struggling artist, you'll do anything for a dollar. No matter how gay it is. Been there, done that. :)
