So I got my winters put today and I was told the right rear shock is leaking.

What would be a good brand of shock to go with, I don't really want to go with stock replacements, I would like something a bit more sporty I guess.

Does it need to be replaced right away or can I get a bit more out of it, it's not leaking too bad, but it's still leaking.

Edit: I think I might just get a set of Koni yellow, from what I read, they will work with stock springs correct?

there are always this as an option (http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?59282-MS3-Inexpensive-OEM-Shock-Replacement) if you don't want to run the Konis in winter... or they don't come in quickly.

and, yes, Koni Yellows will work with stock springs. That is the setup I ran this year.

Nice those other shocks are crazy cheap. There is a group buy on Koni Yellows going on.. so I might go that route.

Is it safe to drive with a leaky shock and for how long?

your driveability will begin to suffer the more the shock leaks fluid. eventually it'll start bottoming out on the bump stop and springing back up faster than the other side... causing an unstable rear end.

depending on how adept you are at catching and recovering from a rear end that wants to step out, it could mean either 1) feeling like a roller coaster and putting a smile on your face, or 2) starting to dorifto and causing your arsehole to pucker :)

all kidding aside, there are others who have driven on a blown stock shock for a while without any misadventures....if driveability starts to get noticeably worse, your timeframe for replacing it becomes shorter.

How much did you pay for the shipping and other charges when you purchased your shocks from Rock Auto ?

I'd order locally from alphotorsports their prices are rediculously low and they are great to deal with
