Hey guys, i made a before and after of my res delete and muffler change on my mazda 3. Theirs barely any good videos for the 2.3L, since all of my mods are shown either on Speeds or 2.0's. Enjoy!:D

You should just go with a cbe

You should just go with a cbe
It's almost triple the cost

is doing it this way still street legal, will he still pass emission testing?

Yes it's legal and yes it'll pass emissions
The resonator is simply used to help quiet down the sound after the cat convertor. Unfortunately, it's often inefficient and restricts the air flow, hindering performance.

Cool thanks
I consider my as good as gone as soon as I can get some time with my dad and have the car in the air

wouldnt the backpressure created by the resonator help out?

Back pressure is in the muffler itself. Not in the exhaust components
Think of your exhaust like a garden hose that's been hacked up and butted together. All the hacks are (or will be) potential leaks. They are the weak links that water has to flow over
Then you have the nozzle. Like your muffler, if there's too much pressure, the water pushes out like a jet stream. Release the pressure, and the water gushes out naturally.
Rule #4 in tuning
Get the pressure out as fast as possible.
Hence we increase pipe sizes and go mandrel bends and hi-flow cats, and res deletes, to make the "hose" streamlined. the muffler itself is usually baffled to give some BP. But for the most part, it's a free flowing design

although, if you have no backpressure or too large piping, you will actually lose hp and alot of torque. especially on n/a applications.

unless the motor is fully built. (and I mean fully built) NASCAR for instance run straight pipes
Other than that
+1
A normal street car will feel like its in limp mode if there is not enough back pressure

Hey man sounds pretty nice. I was actually looking into running this set up in the next week or so. Wanted to run a magnaflow muffler, res delete and upgrade to a 3.5' tip. Just wondering how you are like everything so far, any problems or would have changed anything.

how much did u spend?
I got a quote down here for $300 cash, for everything brand new(magnaflow muffler and tip+ res delete) + labour and install at Zoro Mufflers. Not sure what he paid for his but I would also like to know that answer as well and if any of you guys think that is a reasonable price?

I paid $450 parts and labor for my custom set up
Magnaflow muffler angled and tilted, Mandrel bends cut and welded through the axel, Resonator deleted, new piping to cat.
I literally made my own cat-back, an NOBODY will have the same as me :)
I was very particular with my exhaust set-up which cost me more in the long run. But at the end of the day, it's EXACTLY what I wanted.
i know that mazdathree3 picked up a full magnaflow cbe for not much more (relatively speaking; not including install). you can pm him as to how he did it lol.
So I ended up going ahead and did my setup today. Magnaflow exhaust, cut out the res, and upgraded to 3.5" stainless tip. Il post some pics here and a video later on today or the next couple days. Very deep sound, turned out better then i expected actually :)
