Hello,

I have owned my car for 4 years now and this has driven me nuts since i bought it. I have a grinding noise like the pads are wore out from the rear brakes. This started at about 4000kms mazda did a warranty pad replacement and it was fine till 10000kms. Mazda refused brake warranty at that time so i did them myself with new wagner ceramic pads front and rear. About 6-8000kms later the sound was back. I found if i relubed the brakes every 5-6000kms the noise stayed away. This is a tedious thing to do and would like to not have to. Mazda tells me its known issue and that the fix is new pads whenever the sound starts. Has anyone delt with this or found a fix?

are you actually having the old pads checked to see if they are worn away? Or do you just replace them. If they are worn, you may have uneven break distribution or some sort of blockage in the line that has the pads constantly compressing in the back.

I replaced them when the noise started once by mazda once by me and the pads were still at about 97-98%. I just changed the pads again 3years later because they were worn out and there was no uneven wear. If i had to say one pad was wore more than the other i'd say the outside pads were wore more than the inside but by such a slight amount it's barley noticeable. Lubing the pads reloves the issue but i have to lube them ever 5000kms and that gets time consuming. Lubing them all the time i put 75000kms on that set of pads before they were at the point I change them (about 25% remaining)
