Title says it all: US currency U-G-L-Y.
This ugly POS is the new $100 bill for instance:

Apparently some Americans feel the same way I do though, and some enterprising individuals have taken it upon themselves to create proposals for new currency designs (http://richardsmith.posterous.com/).
I found this set of designs particularly nice:

Retains the traditional "green" look to American bills, while at the same time making them much classier and more modern looking.
