Soooooo I'm going north bound on the 427 about two car lengths behind and one lane over from a white Civic
Then i can faintly see something under the tire of the civic and next thing you know i can see this "thing" making a Bee line straight for me, before i could react the object (about the side of my forearm) smashes into my windshield. I thought for sure my windshield was going to crack. thankfully while driving and looking, it wasn't cracked...but it was pretty badly scratched....
so i go on with my night, then on my way home... i realize there's a scratch on the hood...i could see it in the reflection of the lights. i thought that sucking Effs, but it doesnt look bad, hopefully just the clear coat...even though i can see some bits sticking up.
HOWEVER, i get home, and in the light i see:

Nail polish would be hard to clean up later. Grab a touch up pen from a dealer and fill the scratch... deal with buffing it out etc. in the spring. You might be lucky though, the scratch may not have gone through the primer.

+1
Paint pen if you want to prevent it from rusting. Do it right away too.

I have no idea it was dark. But i suspect it was a piece of wood, or maybe a piece of a mud flap off a truck or something... whatever it was...it was not soft... FAK.....
yeah i think i'll cover it with some painters tape for the time being, until i can get a paint pen..

Moisture will still get in so don't take too long. That sucks but better to have a slightly visible touched-up scratch over a rust spot.

Yeah good point. i'll try to go to a dealer after work tomorrow...maybe electrical paint would be better for the time being.... damn you MoT for not being closer to my office.....
thanks for the advice btw.

I went out of my way for mot but the pen is only like 15 bucks normally. Go to any dealer.
It could have been alot worse. I've seen wood go through windshields. You came out unharmed. So yes. Merry Christmas.

I went with Electrical tape for the time being.... figured its more water proof considering its raining outside. I'll hit up the dealer near my office on the way home... (sorry MoT)
thanks for support guys...and yeah you're all right it could have been worse, at the time i thoguht for sure the windshield was a goner (especially considering i already had a stone chip patched in the same general area)

Make sure you get all of the residue from the tape off ... something like goo-gone, then alcohol.

You could also go to Cdn Tire and get the Duplicolor Clear Coat Touch up Pen. It's much easier to work with since it has a brush and pen like device but I'd stay with the brush.

As others have said, deal with it now before it rusts and fix it up come the spring.
