im looking into getting a new battery. i was pretty set on the Optima RedTop, but now im reading reviews online saying that the Oddyssey batteries are just as good at a way cheaper price. they are both dry cell high cranking batteries. anyone know anything about the Oddyssey batteries?

I've used Optima batteries never had any issues, my old man has a marine battery that is at least 10 years old and is in top shape.

Hey Rob, I've never used Odyssey batteries, but I've seen them being discussed in 1addicts forum. Those guys said they are light weight as well, now this is all from memories but see if you can find anything at 1addicts.
here is some weight info on those batteries:
Battery: Stock - 53 lbs
Braille B3121 - 21 lbs
Odyssey PC680 - 14.99 lbs
Odyssey PC925 - 26.0 lbs
Odyssey PC1200 - 38.2 lbs
Optima Red Top battery - 39.4 lbs

I had an oddessy motorcycle battery (15lbs vs 45lbs stock) in my car during the summer for daily driving and track events and had no issues.
I then would swap out to an optima yellow top for the winter. I would have bought a larger oddessy for the winter but my battery died in Ohio and the nearest shop only had Optima. You can't go wrong with either one.
