Hey just noticed a Round crack the size of a toonie on my front windshield. Just wondering if anyone has had the same experience and if they were able to get it repaired or had to get it replaced

That's not repairable as it's quite an involved chip. You can replace it now or when it starts to crack across the windshield.

No repair there. You need a whole new windshield.

That looks like some impact. Were you driving when it happened? Your OP said you did not notice so I'm wondering if something else hit it while parked?

In any case, that sucks man given that it's still a brand new car only a few weeks old.

Glass installers should be able to just fill it in

no, the chip is too big. you've lost too much integrity in the windsheild.
at most, you can fill in a chip/star the size of a penny.

Hmm I wonder how fast it will
Take to spread, I think my deductible is $500. How much is a new windshield roughly?

it all depends. come chips take forever, some take a couple days.

i wouldnt go thru insurance. new windsheilds are most likely under $500.

The oem glass is rather expensive, there is an aftermarket glass that you can buy that is the same as the oem glass just not stamped with mazda. if you look at the left side by the vin it will say there name. say oem glass is over 500 + tax. i think when i replaced my windsheild because it cracked with the aftermarket one it cost me around 350-400 with tax

Without the rain sensor, maybe.

Yeah I want one with the rain sensor, man I'm not having a good day. Just backed into a car, only a cpl minor scratches , fixed it up with the paint pen. Gives me an excuse to paint the rear bumper black lol. The car I backed into, a dodge neon the bumper cracked, lol what a cheap car. I was going like 1 km. car is definitely broke in now though haha

Is the 2010 and up Mazda more money for windshield?

My 2008 cost me $300 tax in... They used the same rain sensor

Dave. I got my windshield replaced with the rain sensor for $300 cash from Speedee Gonzales (aka Star Auto Glass).

Here's a couple of links to the other threads that discussed the windshield replacement.

http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?36054-Windshield-Insurance-Claim&highlight=speedee

In addition, TheMan posted about his quest on finding OEM windshield glass with rain sensor. Note the photos that he taken for the aftermarket glass, this looks exactly the same as my windshield from Speedee so I am very happy with the result.

Hope this can help you decide if you the Glass Repair shop you went for a quote came back too expensive.

You just noticed that?? Or did it just happen?

Either way I think that is to big to fix, but I would take it to an auto glass place and get an expert opinion on it.

Did you even bother to read all the posts?

He already took it in and they told him it can't be fixed
