So this morning I decided to give it a little gas, and before I know it there is a RCMP officer behind me. Anyways I pull over thinking I'm screwed!
He ended up being a really cool cop, he told me he drives a 2010 3 gt and that he has been wanting to trade it In for a speed 3. Talked Mazda with him for a cpl minutes, he just warned me about my tinted license plate cover and didn't even mention anything about speeding, I was going 100 in a 70 zone. Anyways just wanted to share that, nice to see a police officer respect Mazda lol

Wow your lucky. Even the nice cops I've gotten have given me a ticket.
The last one talk for about 5 min about my olds as he had one as well, gave me the tic and told me to take it to court cause he wasn't going to show.

If they've already called it into dispatch the reason for pulling someone over they have to give the ticket or give a very good reason as to why they did not.
Lol, you should have told the cop about the forums and got him to join!!

At least you two had something in common but considering you live in Halifax that's probably why he decided to let you off. Don't think the same outcome would have happened if you were here in the GTA.

Good to hear about your luck! Good thing you drive a Speed or else you may not have been so lucky ;)

I got my license about a decade ago. I've been pulled over, but still to this day *knock on wood* haven't received a single ticket. I always find that if you're honest, take responsibility, and apologetic, they are much more likely to let you off with a warning.

I got pulled over at Lansdowne and Bloor a couple months ago. I turned left while travelling East on Bloor. The Cop was approaching going west and pulled me over. It turns out going east you can turn left between 9-4, but going west you can never turn left. I tried to explain to him at first, but he still took my info. A couple minutes later he came back, apologized to me by name, said sorry and said have a good day.

Nice cop that was able to admit a mistake.

They usually don't give you a ticket for these, unless you totally screw up. They typically use these situations as a reason to pull you over, to ensure you aren't [doing anything] shady.

I had an incident a while back...

In downtown Whitby (lol, if you can call it that), I passed a completely undercover silver Impala who began to follow me. Instantly my friend and I knew they were undercover. As I drove along Dundas coming close to Oshawa - sure enough blue and red lights flashed and I instinctively pulled over (I was not speeding, the 'true' reason comes later).
To my surprise, the two men who came to either side of the vehicle were not uniformed. Tall, grim, kind of a "blue collar camper" look with a denim jacket and a blue-jays baseball cap.

They asked for my I.D., my friend and I then asked for some proof that they were police officers (as there was no indication except for blue and red lights from the car, which can be bought at Wal-Mart or the car could be stolen). The officer refused to show me his badge, therefore I refused to show him my I.D. and asked to call a supervisor or someone in uniform. The officer standing at the passenger door refused, and immediately showed us his holstered gun at his hip, saying this is identification enough. My buddy said "**** you then, I'm calling 911" and he did. The officer screamed and said he's not allowed to, but my friend was already talking to dispatch.

"Yes, my name is *** we are driving a *** vehicle at Dundas and Gerrard, someone in an unmarked cruiser pulled us over, non-uniformed and refusing I.D, I think they're fake, send help." was his paraphrased words. 911 ask my friend to ask for the officer's dispatch code, the officer screamed a series of numbers to which my friend repeated into the phone. 911 dispatch responded by saying that there was recently a Drug and Gang unit under that code that had pulled over a vehicle that matched my vehicle's description. But it was too late, because 911 sends help then asks questions later.

The cop, furious, opened the passenger door, and pulled my friend out before he could even hang up the phone, then stated to my friend he was under arrest for "Missusing 911, refusing to show I.D, and obstruction of justice" (by the way, only the last one is an arrestable offence). He brough my friend to the cruiser's hood and started to search him, going as far as looking through the inerds of his wallet.

By then, a swarm of cruisers advanced on the scene (including the supervisor - who my friend and I know personally). The two undercovers were caught in an embarassing situation. At that point, he handed my friend's wallet back to him and told us the reason he stopped us was because one of our headlights were out.

Really... A drug and gang unit busting their cover for a headlight? Well, that's the DRPS for you lol...

Regardless, they were in deep dog-doo-doo, and I'm happy to say "I called the cops, on the cops!"

That's my pull-over-story.

It sucks when that stuff happens. I use the 90/10 rule. 90% of all people are good. 10% are jackasses. It goes for all walks of life. The sad part is only the 10% get noticed.

As I always say, The idiots scream the loudest.

I remember being pulled over in Detroit by the Gang Unit when I first bought my Speed. I pulled out from a gas station, and the cops turned right on red (which at that intersection, was not allowed). They came up to the car, and same thing, give us your I.D's. I was like hell no, show proof. Him undoing his vest flap to show "GANG SQUAD" & about 3 different hand guns was enough.. by then, two cruisers drove by to check, and they left..
I got ripped apart by the passenger for "almost killing them", and I told her that was crazy, no way I could kill them doing 15mph, and that they should have never turned right on red..

We got searched, to say the least, and then released with an "all clear" to the bridge to come home.. (we were in the ghetto of all ghetto's).. ended up there because we got lost to begin with..
So yes, I totally understand, but geez I didn't get ripped out of the car or anything lol..

OP, its nice to see there is still officer's in uniform out there that are passionate & considering..
