Hello Everyone,
I thought i would post this thread reviewing the kyb shocks and also showing how to install them ( on the rear) since im always looking for diy threads i thought i would help out people like me:)

The kybs have been on my car for about a week now and i can only say they are amazing!! they are gas shocks and i bought them off ebay for a mere $120.00. I replaced the rears because the left shock on the drivers side was leaking.. so i put these on and it feels like a whole new car! (comfort wise)

Step 1

Remove the tire exposing the shock, straight forward.

Step 2

There are two nuts at the top of the shock you want to remove. remove the top nuts first. i believe they are 12 mm nuts if not 13mm

Step 3

Remove the Bottom bolt from the inside. ( there is a weld nut on the other side) this bolt is 17 mm. Note the leaky shock:p You will need to compress the shock a little to get it out. you can use your foot to press down on the rotor area to get it out.

Step 4

Now that you have the shock off

You have to take off the assembly from the shock

Using a vice grip and 12 mm wrench you are able to get the assembly off. place the vice grip on the small tab and turn the nut off with the wrench

This what it should look like when you are finished. this is the new shock to the old shock

Step 5

Put the assembly on the new shock

Make sure that when you are putting the assembly on the new shock, you put the top part with the 12 mm bolts and the bottom part 17mm bolt perpendicular to each other

Step 6

Put the new shock in by putting the 17mm bolt in first and the the two top nuts. This is so you can compress the shock to fit in the area. the new shock will compress easily but only for a little while until pressure builds up inside the shock.

Then you are done!
