Hey did a quick search didn't find too much info, just wondering if anyone has Canuck motorsports lowering springs installed on their car right now?
Contacted their website and was told the price was $149 + shipping with a 1.5 inch drop. Price seems too good to be true, had a set of prolits on my last 3 and didn't mind it too much.

Talk about timing..I was just about to post a similar question.

Lot's of positive reviews for CM springs on a regular 3. Not much info on the speed.
I saw one person on MSF had installed these springs on a second gen speed. Are you planning to upgrade your shocks ?
I am considering these paired with Bilsteins.

They are a Canadian company and their prices have always been that low for years for all makes.

They are known to be a decent spring. Similar to SpringTech. I have heard that they can sag over time but overall a decent spring.

I don't have any experience with them on a Mazda 3 or Speed 3 so I can't comment on that application unfortunately.

Had them on my 2007 GS for about 2-2.5 years. No issues whatsoever. I would assume similar things for the MS3.

They don't have any for the speed. But I assume, because of the heavier front, that it'll be lower. It's close to 2" in the front I guess. Searched for spring rates but could not find it....

I had them on my 3 and loved them, the one thing I will say is that i got closer to 1.75" drop vs the advertised 1.5"

Found spring rate info on M3F. Not sure how this compares to stock, and to H & R(my other option)

Canuck Motorsports
Front Drop: 1.75"
Rear Drop: 1.75"
Spring Rate: (F) 170 (R) 160

Definitely softer than our stock springs.

Might get a set soon then, the guy from cm emailed me last night an said he has a set that would fit a speed 3 , he said it's a 1.5 drop front and back.
Wonder if I can get away with the cm springs on stock shocks for one summer

one summer..likely.
Can you ask him if he can give you the spring rates? Also are they specific for the speed3 or just the 2nd gen 3 ?

If the spring rates are indeed softer than stock, don't bother with the CM springs.

Look into some used Cobb springs or, if you fancy new, Eibach Pro-Kits, that are specifically made for the Speed3.

I have looked into both myself. The Pro-Kits are a maybe, but ideally would like something with a larger drop. Any input?

it's not so much a larger drop that'd concern me (tho that PLUS softer spring rates should concern EVERYONE), but the lower spring rates will affect driving characteristics...to its detriment. This has nothing to do with any talk or performance driving.

yes, the springs lower, but it should not be due to LOWER spring rates, but actual spring length. proper spring rates are essential to a properly handling car and everyday driving experience.

I told him my car was 2012 so I'm assuming the springs are for 2nd gen I'll email him back and see what the spring rate numbers are

Swift springs are the only springs other than stock you should be putting on your car IMHO if you care about the way your car drives.

it's too bad you didn't have the pleasure of driving a gen1 with the underdamped shocks as they were quite the trip on undulating roads...almost like a boatmobile from the 70s, but not.

if the goal is low and slow at the lowest cost, then no need to throw caution to the wind. if you want supa low but still keep the performance aspect of the speed3, spend the money and get coilovers made specifically for the speed3.

Take a look at Road Magnet's springs also. I have heard they are on the stiffer side.

Yeah I'm looking for a slight drop, I would love coil overs but doesn't look like I'll able to afford those anytime soon due to purchasing a house. Springs would be a quick fix for now

Since they're local/Canadian, why don't you guys just ask them to make Gen2 specific springs? There's going to be enough of you guys to warrant their investment.

I'm sure there's enough guys here who'd work with them to warrant a CM "TM3" edition spring that you guys can then sell all over North America, and get a cut of the roaylty for TM3.

The goal is not slow and low, i have had coilovers on my previous 3 and found I really did not make use of the full functionality. In this case, I am looking for a decent drop, around 1.5". I am planning to pair the springs with Bilsteun shocks. If the spring rates posted above are confirmed, then that will eliminate the Canuck Motorsport springs from my search. I have also looked at the swift prings Paul suggested. However, the spec R's will be too stiff for daily driving, and swift has said they are not making the sport springs for the speed 3.
At this point, I am leaning toward the H&R springs...

Ended up purchasing a set of H&R springs off of mazdaspeedstore
