Not sure about you guys but if it were me, I would have definitely reacted different from them. Actually, I wouldn't have gotten myself in their situation anyway.

Other than not being on a bear watching tour, there isn't much you could do to not get in that situation.
I would have acted differently, I would have defecated in my pants. But there is nothing you can do if the bear is coming at you. maybe grab a stick, swing and pray.

but its a safe viewing trip. it must be safe. right....
i have heard stories and seen strange things with grizzly bears including one trying to get the helicopter when flying over it. they must be used to people being there watching them.

So was Smokey the Bear, and he was full of helpful information.
Actually as it turned out (and lucky for them cause you never know) they may very well have done the smart thing and not run. If they did it could have been the old predator & prey scenario. I do agree with the others though, I would probably sh!t myself. Just remember, you don't need to out run the bear, just the other people..... and damn, trip up the others if you have too. :chuckle

Wow cuz being 25 feet away from a grizzly that's feeding is always a brilliant idea.. Why don't they go play with some bear cubs and see if they live.

I'm sure the tour guide had some sort of firearm as a precaution. I wouldn't imagine them going on an eco-tours into grizzly country wilderness on the hopes that nothing bad would ever happen. However, with that said... I'd be more concerned if I was sitting in the front and not at the back of the group.
