I have an 09 GT hatch with the auto setting for the head lights. I know the lights automatically turn off when I turn off the car if the lights are in the auto position but what about in the on position? Will they eventually turn off automatically? Reading the manual if only mentions auto off in the auto position.

Also, when I lock the car with the fob, the first push flashes the lights and the second push beeps the horn to indicate its already locked. Ccan I program it to beep the horn the first time so I dont have to look back to see if the lights flash?

Thanks

No. If they are in the "on" position, then they are on until your battery dies lol.

No you can't change the programming as far as I know.

As for your second problem...just push lock more than one time? That way you don't have to look back either.

+1, Even if it was possible to re-program it... would it really be worth it to you?

I think I know what you're getting at, and if you left them in the on position, they won't turn themselves off. Do you normally run with your lights on?

no the lights will not turn off when in the on position, only in auto, ( auto on auto off) i dont think you can program the horn to honk at the first press of the key fob, i think its only on the 2nd press or not at all if memory is correct, and yes the car will have a flat tone on when the lights are left on as the reminder to turn them off.

mounir: Its worth it if I have to push twice every time I get out of the car. My 03 Altima could be programmed to beep or not beep by programming the fob with a few key pushes.

Reddir: I normally have it in auto but I just realized the fog lights dont come on in the day in auto. I was thinking of running with HID/fog during the day as people (especially suv's) seem less likely to cut in front of me when I have the hid's/fogs on in the day.

Silverstar: It does buzz and I will have to remember that line.

that's only for fogs...plus why would you want independent headlights...all you have to do is turn them on...

your auto lights won't come on in the daytime, your DRL's will run, but unless the green light symbol is on, your headlights aren't actually on, you will have to turn the lights on during the day. That's what I do. I just think the car looks better with headlights and fog's on, so I turn them on in the day, and let auto do it at night.

the flatline is very helpful, and I LOVE that line :P

isnt running your fog lights furing the day time illegal....then again they dont stop for anything like that unless theyre bored or being dicks

I have the Indy fog mod and I have my fogs on during the day. Its on pretty much whenever I have the car on. Never had any trouble from cops.

That would be pretty pathetic if the cops starting screwing people over by jacking you up for fog lights!! I'd almost be tempted to say "haven't you guys got anything better to do with your time?"

4 lights are allowed to be on at any given time on a car plus the amber lights. The ambers are not considered a light because they do not project light forward. Still don't understand why on the 10's and up they did not allow the fogs to be on with the highbeams with bixenon setup. They wouldnt be breaking any rules.

as to OP and his nissan comment. If I am not mistaken a few clicks on the remote for the nissan will shut off or on the horn from beeping when locking but did not change it from single push to double push

Just push the button twice until you hear the sound, its two clicks that take less then half a second lol Or if you wana just click once, upgrade your car and get a remote starter like i did which comes with a new fob so everything all goes at one time on the first click. Problem solved :)

Essentially you can modify the firmware of your car's computer to always sound the horn when you lock the car. But that's illegal and voids any warrantee, plus I don't know anyone other than a manufacturer plant that has the connectors and ability to modify the firmware.

But I like that you have to press it twice to sound the horn - even though it's already locked the first time. Think about if you have a sleeping baby and don't want to wake them up. And it's not like its a tideous task to press the button twice to sound the horn lol. Thats just my 2 cents

At krimsalt- basically what you are saying is Vagcom is illegal? Its a free software that infultrates the VW software allowing you to change and modify their firmware and software.
Toyota people are tapping in to the can system of the car and changing all sorts of things and adding in cool features. I am not that technically advanced to know how to do it but I know about it.
Aftermarket BMW stuff is all about coding and certain things are even for sale from companies. I find it hard to beleive that things are illegal when they are this easy to access

I've had my DRL's on my fogs for 2 years now, and not once has a cop looked at me twice.

As long as you have some sort of light on at the front of your car during the day, they have no reason to pull you over.
