View Full Version : Looking for some solid advice - 2010 MS3

Hello all,
I've had my MS3 now for almost 2 years, an so far I've added a CAI from AEM, HKS SSQV II BOV (set to recirc) and I just installed a Racing Beat Cat Back Exhaust. Shortly before I installed the exhaust I found that the car would bog down under load and since the exhaust it's dissipated and rarely happens now.
My question is this (looking for some sold advice)
I think I'm not doing my mods in the right order and Im afraid that one day I won't be zoom zooming anymore but instead going zoom zoom boom!
What would. You all suggest as the correct order or what I need to ensure that I have? I'm hearing that I need to upgrade my fuel pump, add the down pipe and then tune with the Cobb AP.
Can anyone confirm this for me? I'm new to a car with a turbo. I don't mind spending the money if it's going to be worth it.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Any and all help/advice is greatly appreciated.

I don't own a Speed, but reading through the Mod Path guides would be really beneficial for you.
You should get an AP first, then fuel pump, then down pipe according the guides. If you drive a first generation Speed your fuelling logic is more capable with the stock fuel pump as opposed to Gen2s which have different fuelling logic.
Make sure you get the AP and set a tune for yourself that includes your current mods, then run it until you can afford HPFP/Downpipe.
I'm sure some Speed owners will chime in here shortly for you.
Also, you should consider investing in a rear motor mount (RMM). Most Speed owners will tell you the difference in shifting feel is day and night.

Thats what I'm hoping! Fellow MS3 owners! I seek the advice!
I'm ready to purchase the AP, HPFP & Downpipe. I just want to make sure what the best one to with is. From what reading it seems to be the CPE HPFP, COBB AP & Downpipe. If someone suggests an alternate the HPFP and Downpipe, I'm all eyes to this thread!

Some people like to use CP-E stuff, but for the AP, definitely Cobb.
Good luck with your tuning! :thumbsup

So based on what I'm reading:
1. AP
2. HPFP
3. Downpipe
4. Turbo Inlet Hose
5. CBE - done
6. Upgrade BOV - done
Am I reading & understanding it correctly?

1. AP
2. HPFP
3. Intake/TIP
4. Exhaust
5. Downpipe
6. BPV
At least that's what I feel is the safest.

+1, along with flashing the appropriate stage 1 and stage 2 maps (go search the cobb website and read up on the map database), followed by a custom protune. Stage 1 at #3, Stage 2 at #5.
Also, in addition to reading the link provided by Loki, READ THIS (Cobb recommended upgrade path) (http://accessecu.com/support/docs/support/AP-MAZ-002/2010%20MS3%20Support.pdf) <- Also in the link provided by Loki, but I feel that it directly addresses your concern

Yes. I was reading the link. It was very helpful.
When I do these upgrades, are there any engine internals I should be doing at te same time that would be mandatory or would you feel that I'd be safe for now with just what we have listed?

Should be fine on stock engine internals, especially if staying with the K04 turbo.

Buy an AP and do some logs....that's where you find your answer. :)
Get the AP and upgrade the HPFP before putting the exhaust on.

The exhaust and bov and cai are already on. Bov and cai have been on for almost 2 years and the exhaust I put on about 2 weeks ago.
I just ordered up the ap, dp, inlet pipe and HPFP. Now I just gotto find a good place to do the install.

I would recommend Street Performance or Mspeed for installation.

I wish I could but these mods just killed my budget plus I'm afraid of my wife :P. If se only knew what I was doing.
I just put some Eibach springs on when I did the exhaust plus I has to buy new rubber for the summe look ad the alignment kit with the springs. How much you asking again?

Just one more quick question. When all the work is done, do you guys think it's better to have the BOV set to recirc, or would you recommend it set to VTA?

No. I ordered through a friend of mine. Gave him the info and he said he would handle it.

Well I would suggest the COBB AP first as this can Tune your car to run properly, followed shortly by internals the DP. This is my opinion but I am sure most will agree! You definitely need internals before the DP is intalled. and an AP would help monitor things.
