you wont have any issues there. youd be surprised at the cars you see in gatineau. some are actually nicely done.

not sure how right i am but i'll take a shot in the dark and say i dont think it matters does it? You car is registered to ontario and all your work was done here so you shouldnt have to worry about that if you are just visiting. That is like giving a tourist from the US a ticket for something they dont know or someone from over seas visiting a ticket cuz they have right hand drive. As long as the rules are being followed where it was registered i think it should be fine, but then again i could be wrong lol just my opinion :)

+1.
Think about it. Can't give a no front plate tic to someone who can't get them

If a cop wants to be a dick - he's gonna be a dick.
I've been pulled over a few times in Montreal and in the US. All times with my Ontario plates on. Never got any tickets regarding the mods on my car (other than a speeding ticket)
With the mods you mentioned, I don't think you'll have any issues. Unless you start holding up traffic by driving 20km/h cause you're bottoming out and scraping all over the place.

Ok thanks guys just wanted to see what you guys see when your there :)
I don't get why people worrie?
If you worried about driving your car to Montreal cause of your mods then you shouldn't bother modding your car... I drive mine everywhere and the last thing on my mind is if a cop will give me a ticket or not.

I highly doubt you'll get a ticket unless you're actually breaking some law like speeding or something. If you don't drive like an ass and attract attention to yourself you'll be ok. I've never gotten a ticket for mods (knock on wood), speeding that's another story.

I have been pulled over in Alberta for tints on the front (but no ticket or written warning) and I had Ontario plates on.
But I've driven to Quebec many times and never had a problem with police there, you should be fine.

Officers can still give you a ticket even though your car is not registered here because you are driving on our roads and must comply with our rules. Certain things will be let off where other things will not, such as tire rubbing.
I can explain the details for you guys if you want, as I have already typed them up for another forum!

I used to live in Ottawa and drive in Quebec on occasion. Just don't go over +10 km/h over the speed limit and turn right on a red and you should be OK.

While i agree that he shouldn't have an issue, this isn't why.
Ignorance of the law is not an excuses, as a visitor it is your duty to learn the local laws and abide by them. While no one actually takes the time to learn these laws, it is not a reasonable excuse when you get a ticket. That's like someone coming from a country that allows rape, then coming here and raping someone and using the excuse, "I didn't know I couldn't do this here, in my country it is allowed". It just doesn't work.

Just don't go over +10 km/h over the speed limit and turn right on a red and you should be OK.
Gonna elaborate a bit on the red light part.
It is actually legal to turn on a red in Quebec EXCEPT on the island of Montreal.

You can get stopped, and I do know of people that had had to rip their tint off on the spot to avoid tickets. Since you're saying you're in ottawa and might go to qc, I suspect you're talking about areas near the border. There are lots of people with ontario plates near the border, so there is less chance of having a dick officer who hates ppl from ontario. So, like sammifan said, don't go trying to attract attention to yourself, and you should be fine.

You're wrong. If your car is modified and you come from a state or province that allows such modifications, since you are a visitor, they will most likely not stop you. If they do stop you, it may be just to verify if you are really from, lets say, Ontario and not bullshwiting them. Once they see your license and registration, you're fine.

And if you're stopped in QC with ontario plates, you have a very very good chance of not getting off the hook.
