So my buddy has an 07 SI, and he had this universal muffler on it.

He just switched to a greddy ti-c CBE and offered me this exhaust for 80 bucks.
Should I take it? Will it even work? Will it sound ricey?
I honestly have no clue, I assume I'll have to get someone to cut the tip, cut my muffler, weld it in place, and then?
I'm willing to try it out if its cheap but if anyone has done it or any ideas please chime in.
This is obviously not for performance gains, but at the same time, don't want my car looking like a rice rocket!
Likely will take the plunge and give it a shot, but don't want to Frankenstein my exhaust for no reason!

No, buy Pars3GT's Mazdaspeed3 exhaust in the classifieds for a bit more..guaranteed you will be 100x more satisfied than with some universal muffler.

TBH i agree, I don't think that muffler will go with a mazda 3. Will look ridiculious and looks like a fart cannon.

that's what I was thinking too steve...i like your ms3 exhaust too.
the muffler is way behind the tip though, so you wouldn't really see it. I'm just worried about rice noise...it sounded good on the si lol but who knows what it will sound like on the mz3?

Probably fairly similar

With a muffler to be honest it probably won't sound as good as with the MS3 exhaust simply because the restrictions within the rest of the piping are still present. I actually was going to jump on that exhaust myself but priorities have set in and I'm sure you'll be very happy with it if you pick it up.

not to take business away from parsm3gt but i believe ivan from igarage has had his hands on a ms3 exhaust with a resonator removed for the longest time...
last time i talked to him he was trying to get rid of it for 100 bucks.
as for this, i'm still not too sure....i feel like 80 bucks + 50 dollars for install = one heck of a deal to make me sound more unique

What about 100 + 50 for install? Still a good deal :)
Maybe he's willing to part with his for that price...only way to find out is to ask :thumbsup

Also, theres a bend right before the tip on the mz3 so you will lop off the tip and weld it in your mid section or have an angular exhaust point down and to the left (looking towards the front of the car).

Is your car a manual or an automatic?
IMHO, any aftermarket muffler sounds horrible on any car that is not a manual.
Do you plan to shoot grapefruits out of that thing? That tip looks huge...

Doesnt look that bad - but i dont hink it will fit.
14" long body PLUS the 4.25" long tip.

i'm planning to cut the tip off because the inlet/outlet is 2.25" and then just stick it where my muffler is...might go back home to put it on maybe/maybe not
if i get a job interview then hopefully i'll have it on by the AA meet lol

just wanted to update that in the end I got a mazdaspeed 3 exhaust...because I got a stellar price (lets just say two digits) for the exhaust.
Now, I got it installed without the race pipe, so my second cat is actually still on my car. the race pipe/res delete is at home.
do you guys think i should slap that on too? I drive highway back and forth from school, and its already pretty loud inside.
I know the gains are minimal but would the race pipe give me some limited hp gain? or should i just sell it because I feel like my exhaust is already pretty loud lol
also the borla doesnt fit =)

Give it some time and you'll be able to decide for yourself I'm sure
Glad you decided to go with the MS3 exhaust, hope you enjoy it! :)
P.S the race pipe probably won't give you any noticeable power gains.
