Hey guys, I just found I need to change my front brake pads and rotor because of the rust and overusage. I'm not sure which brand to buy, and which one is better. I did a quick research Garage16 and NextMod, and I found HAWK seems to be the main one for the pads they have. Also, from a quick search on google, I found there's a high rate for Centric, a brand name for rotor.
So, I want to know what you think and what you are using right now~;)
Cheers~

Just use oem for general street use.

I've moved this to the brakes section. Please be aware of where you are posting. :)
I just replaced mine and went with OEM all around. I drive only on the street and the braking power of OEM is great. I spent probably about $100 more than the aftermarket stuff I was looking at.
I also used Jimmy at Street Performance for the swap.

I can't remember exactly but around $465 or so after taxes, etc with the discount for all 4 corners (pads and rotors). Obviously you can get stuff cheaper online but is the quality there?
Had them installed at Street Performance. Call Jimmy for a quote.

I suggest you go here, they can't be beat price-wise and I've talked to several people about the quality of the components and no one had anything bad to say. THey have drilled and coated rotors and use ceramic pads. Matter of fact, I'm going there tom'rw for a complete brake overhaul.

im oem right now nut got hawk hps pads for when i need a break job and not sure what rotors to get, probably oem, i don't want to spend and arm and a leg on cross drilled or slotted rotors on a DD car when just plain rotors will do

Cross drilled or slotted are not more expensive, it depends on the brand. But your best off sticking with OEM blanks though.

OEM rotors + Akebono brake pads.... save a little money on the pads since the rotors aren't cheap from the dealer ;)
why OEM rotors? better made, and has rust protection coating
why Akebono pads? OEM quality... they are a Mazda supplier... not the same pads as stock of course

Isn't your car a 2012? Why would you need to change them? What do you mean by overusage?

The car in his avatar sure doesn't look like a 2012. If he does have a '12 he must have been doing some serious braking ;)

I did, thats why the second comment. Maybe he just made a typo error. I can't see him burning out or having rusted brakes on a 012'.

I have phoned Mountain Mazda in Hamilton and Burlington Mazda before I poseted this thread. Burlington Mazda asked for $480 for the front brake job and $440 for the rear, while Mountain Mazda quoted $390 for the front brake job.
