Hey folks,

I have both a dash cam, and iPhone dock installed in my car, both using the cigarette lighter to charge each device at the same time (each 12V I believe).

After I changed my blown 15amp fog light fuse the other day, my car battery instantly died after I tried turning on the car with the new fuse in (which I've changed a few times in the last 2 years). Both the dash cam and the iPhone dock were plugged in at the time as well. I soon after charged my battery and all was good (I kept the fog lights off just in case and haven't turned them on since).

Do you guys have any input on this matter? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

unless otherwise modified your cig lighter should only be on when the key is in the acc mode or the on mode.
Your fogs should not cuase any problems either as they are controlled by the headlights
How old is the battery what else is done to the car that could cause battery issues?

I bought the car 3 years ago and the battery is original. No other electrical mods or anything that could affect it.

I'm stumped.

did yours come with a cig lighter in the center console? If so did you hook up your cam and ipod to that? If yes that is a constant powered cig lighter which could cause a drain. If you do many short trips and your ipod and cam are hooked up through the constant then your battery never gets a chance to be fully charged causing this issue. The fog fuse could be a pure coincidence
