I tried searching for this, but no luck :(
Wondering if anyone knows about this issue or how to correct it:
Recently (about a month ago) I noticed that when I turn on my passenger-side turning signal, complete the turn, and the steering wheel returns to its natural position, the turning signal does not shut off automatically like it should. The driver's side is fine and functioning properly.
Fuse issue?
Thanks

After you push upwards on the turn signal stalk to activate the right hand signal, and return the steering wheel to its normal position, does the signal stalk disengage or stay in the upright position?

It actually stays up in the turning position. So both the light and the flicker remain engaged when the steering wheel returns to regular position

You need a new stalk mechanism.

Any idea as to how much a repair like this would run me? It might not even be worth it

I'm guessing about 150-180 new parts.
That's what the fog light stalk kit is around. I figure about the same as its the same stalk. To be safe call joe at mot. It may just be a switch inside. (doubt it. )
I will say this. My info is off the knowledge of domestic cars. This is my first import, I don't claim to be an expert. I've had the same problem on a few cars and its always the same. Wether it's the same for Mazda I do not know. Although I would assume so.
For me it's an annoyance that is worth hundreds to me. If I was told 500+. Id pay. But that's just me.
Btw. Simple DIY.

I had this issue on my last car ('01 Focus) and I was told that the whole steering column needed to go to fix it :s
This may have been a load of crap, but just sharing.

It's possible. But with our 3's the foglight stalk is a DIY. There is a write up on here how. I'd search but iPhone sucks for searching the forum.
If you decide to search for the steps. Look up foglight instead of turn signal.
Again there may be something else involved other then the stalk. So of someone can either confirm or deny what my thought is it would be nice.

The foglight/turn signal stalk can be replaced as a separate piece. IIRC, its held in by 3 screws.

That's what I thought. My question, is the spring mechanism built in or within the steering column.

Just crank up the volume and keep turning right...should be fine!

From what I can tell looking online at the stock replacement part, everything seems to be in the arm assembly. NAPA part number is UNI DL6705 (if you have the Automatic headlight option) or UNI DL6704 (if you don't have the the Auto headlight setting).

I know on other cars (haven't had to do this on a 3 yet) there are these bumps around the steering column. They kick that little white piece that sticks out of the end of the part shown above to kick back into the middle position when you return the wheel to a straight position.
