Hi everyone,

Will be selling my Mazda3 soon and wanted to know exactly what they look for during a Safety Standards Certificates inspection. I currently don't have the front foam bumper impact absorber installed because I have an aftermarket fiberglass bumper and the absorber wouldn't fit with the bumper. I still haven't decided whether to sell the car with the aftermarket or oem bumper but wanted to find out first if I would pass safety without the impact absorber.

It's depends on the mechanics' observations. As long as they don't believe it compromises the integrity of the airbag sensors or structural integrity.

I'd say 90% chance that no mechanic is going to notice. Dont say anything :)

Good chance that he will not notice but then again you always get some anal people that haven't gotten laid since 1996 and want to make everyone else pay the price for it.
I would say that you are safe but if he says anything make sure you tell him you bought the car that way and you are pretty sure that it comes that way from the factory.

My 2 cents
