Having discussed with Ami, the MSpeed crew and several enthusiastic TM3 members, we have decided to host a TM3 Tracking Seminar. The idea is to help those who are starting out or those have been around the track a few times, to establish a solid foundation of understanding and discipline so to ensure they don't just have a great time running with friends, but also be able to drive home with the car's sunny side up. Of course, this is not about "what we do, and how you do"...this is more about sharing best practices, experiences and bruises from our previous tracking and competition experience. Everyone is encouraged to attend, and we will set the location based on number of attendees.
We will discuss the following topics, but feel free to suggest others. Having said that, we are already thinking this will take 3 - 4 hrs.
1. Choosing a discipline. [AutoX, Lapping, Amateur Competition]
2. Choosing a way to start. [High Performance Drivers' EDucation]
3. Choosing a venue to run your car. [Quality of organizations, what to look and look out for, safety procedures and requirements, helmets?]
4. Track and track side etiquette. [Where to park and setup, what's passing?, where and how?]
5. Track prep [What to do the night before and when you arrive]
6. Track setup [Tires, suspension and most importantly, the driver or the nut behind the wheel...hopefully, it's not loose]
7. Driving techniques [Car controls, racing line, weight transfer, vision focus]
8. Monitoring [tire pressure, temps, fluids]
9. Datalogging [various timing devices]
10. How to have fun and not break shit...
More details are being finalized and Ami/S.F.W will continue to update with costs, date, time and location. Please post your name below. Dave, Jerry, Neil, Paul and I look forward to seeing you and we will make ourselves available for your questions.
