Bad idea. It takes all of three seconds to put on the seatbelt... and less than that to wrap your car around a tree.

Solution - wear your seatbelt.

Buy a separate buckle thing to plug it in.

But you might as well buckle up :chuckle

Seatbelt isn't going to help you in that situation anyway...now if he hits the tree head on thats a different story.

DISCLAIMER: Not wearing your seatbelt is illegal, and dangerous. You probably already know this, but so your family doesn't sue me if you crash into the front of the store you're going to and go through the windshield, I'm saying this. WEAR YOUR SEATBELT, IT'S THERE TO KEEP YOU SAFE, AND IT IS ILLEGAL TO NOT WEAR IT!

The easy solution here is buckling your belt up behind you, or just waiting the 30 seconds it takes for the alert to stop sounding. I just wear the belt though...

The only time you shouldent be wearing your belt is in reverse if you are rather large(legally you do not have to wear your belt while reversing), or if your car is not moving.

If its only 2 minutes away why dont you walk. It isnt good for your engine to drive short distances anyway.

I believe you don't need it on in a parking lot by law either since it's private property. If this is untrue then the cops at Hillcrest are very lax...and that doesn't seem right for 2 division.

HTA offenses won't hold up in court if it occurs on private property. It's the "Highway Traffic Act", therefore applies only on public roads.

Also, wear your seatbelt. It's not cool NOT to wear a seatbelt and I'm glad most new cars make this chime noise. There is a way to disable it, but I'm not disclosing that lol

you dont need to disconnect anything for the alarm on the seat belt. just ask your dealer if they can turn off the chime for you. its in the vehicle preferences same with the passenger chime, extending the rear defroster time, interior lighting times. things like that

Such a simple qestion and soo many useless answers... Im sure he knows the dangers of not wearing a seatbelt, he doesnt need to hear it from 15 people. He just asked if there was a way to disable the chime. He didnt ask how everyone felt about him driving 2 minutes down the road without a seatbelt on.

Thanks for the input. Where was your information to disconnect it?

I disagree. Wearing a seatbelt is required by law. It is irresponsible to advise someone how to break the law.

I don't See why wearing it is a big deal, IMO speaking as a voulenteer firefighter I have responded to MVA when the driver thrown out of the car a good distance , sure not wearing one can be more comfortable, and might be safer in some peoples eyes but i would rather be taking out of a car on a back board and a collar then thrown into god knows what.

Like i said MY opinion due to my experince.

love the spark going on about this... didnt intend to start arguements but this is interesting knowledge!
i obviously wear my seatbelt anywhere i go, it is just for the odd moment i go to the store around the corner and mostly for when i have passengers who dont wear their seatbelt and insist on not putting it on...

I read somewhere the dealership can do it if you request it, have you tried calling and asking?

I'm curious how to disable my alarm on my 05 sedan as well. Has anyone done it on there own? or does it require a computer? Can you just disconnect the seat belt connector either on the buckle or in the side behind the plastic trim.
