i do believe that if the three co favourites ( Spain, Germany, Holland ) win their groups you will have Spain vs Germany Semi. if they can get past Germany ( hope so ) they will go on to face Holland in the final. I dont see Holland playing that HORRIBLE style of game again as they did in South Africa.. and thats why i cant see them beating Spain. first back to back to back winners of a major tourney ever.

TSN.ca has a deal - for $20 you can stream all the games in near HD quality...more than worth it imo, won't have to worry about links being taken down, etc.

They set up with 10 men behind the ball to defend and pinch a goal either from a set piece of counter attack. This is how they won Euro 2004 and this is how they will play for the rest of the tournament.

Couldnt agree with you more on both of these points. Also, Greece has only lost 2 of their last 24 matches under their new coach which is quite surprising for a country like them. Should be an interesting two games today.

oh man, downtown toronto was a mess. I have never seen a group of people celebrate so much for getting out of the group stages of euro cup. Portuguese people always ask why people dont like them or never cheer for them. Prime example of this: st clair from oakwood to dufferin had to be shut down cuz of all the drunk fans running around on the streets like morons, reving their 1990 crx engines and doing burnouts, banging on peoples cars, climbing on bus stop shelters and street cars. At least do it with some class when you cheer for your team, and make sure they actually win something before major celebrations like this go on. So many people were fighting with each other, swearing, getting arrested and causing such a scene for nothing, crazy!

So here is what I think,

England wins against Italy as long as they aren't flopping around like fairies! Anyone here watch that Italy v Ireland game my go d they were falling all over the place and disrupting the game. If they do this Rooney will get hot headed and sent off. If Roy starts Andy and Wayne I think we have a legitimate shot at winning this game if he starts Welbeck we are screwed because he's useless sorry but he is. Defensively our only liability is on the right with Johnson if Gerrard & Milner can help cover the right side where Pirlo will play from they have no real threat.

Germans beat the Greeks, I know there defensive tactics but Germany will simply over power them.

Portugal v. Czech - I'm going with the upset here with the Czech's, I don't know why but I just think this can happen.

Spain v. France - I think we all know France can't play that bad again which will make this game good but Spain will come out on top with the quick passes and with Mexes missing this game I think they have a big whole in their Central defence.

^^^^ It would be fantastic if your scenario (with England) came true. I would call it a successful tournament, but I am not completely convinced that the lads can beat out the Germans. We still have a few gaps in our defense, & missing some great young players due to injury does not help. Realistically I think we are still 2 to 4 years away, though in sport, anything can happen.

The biggest issue we would have against Germany IF we got there would be not having the pace of Cahill at the back. Chelsea delt with Gomes fine in UCL Final but because we had pace of Cahill at the back, that's what your defence needs against germany is speed beccause they are so fast from the midfield up. Terry's positional play and all out mentality will help keep Natale & Balotelli queit, as long as Lescott doesn't do anything stupid we will be fine. The left is a lock with Ashley my only fear is the left as I mentioned before all of the Ukraine pressure came from the right as did the French, Nasri's goal came from Glen playing to deep and allowed him to cut infront of him. The Italy game will be won in the mid field and the fact that our midfield is very defensive scares me so I expect to not have allot of possesion in this game and Roy will set them up to play counter attack. But I hope Caroll starts!

England after the first ten minutes or so just went into a coma, so badly so, they actually made the Italian offense look potent, which everyone knows it is definately NOT, by far. England's offense was pathetically lame. After the first half, I was thinking neither of these teams will stand a chance against Germany in the next round.

They only got thier 35 attempts due to England's falling back all the time and not pressuring the ball handlers, allowing for the many attempts, which by the way were all FAILS lol...and also due to England's many dismal attempts to clear the ball or too mount any offense (England looked lost in the offensive zone for the most part!). Sure Italian fans should be happy they got thru but should really take full light of how badly they did.

Germany play well for a non club team? I believe 6 or 7 out of the starting 11 play for bayern but you can check if im wrong. Neuer, badstuber, lahm, boateng, schwien, kroos, gomez give or take along with a few others so they are very much a well organized club team who have been together for the last 4 years coming up through the system and have done very well internationally and domestically and in europe.

Anyways looking forward to the game tomorrow, guna be a great midfield battle and hopefully the two will take advantages of their chances and score some goals unlike today. hopefully italy pulls through to see a rematch of the opening round game and win it this time.

I'm not that upset, obviously being a porkchop I would have loved Portugal to win, but I'm feeling pretty proud they played Spain (arguably the best team in soccer right now) to a 120 minute draw and I think made Spain shit their pants a couple of times ;-). Just shitty luck at the end...and maybe a bad choice by the coach (Renaldo should have stepped in for that kick), but hindsight is 20/20.

Well it should be an interesting game. I just finished watching the Italian/Germany game, which I had recorded and I gotta say them Italian's offense does look good. So I guess it wasn't a fluke looking back at the England game. alves plays in the back 4 as they pay a 4 3 3 system. Villa will probably be sold this year as sanchez will take over the starting role on the winger. Dont forget the addition of neymar also which will be happening soon. so the front attacking 6 at any point will consist of: sanchez, fab, messi, xavi, iniesta, alba, neymar, pedro, thiago and who ever else they chose to keep or buy..kind of sickening

As for the game today we gave it everything we had up until the point of the second goal when chiellini was taken out. From then it was over. The coach also did not start the right players from the beginning. It just was not meant to be today for italy, nothing went right. Spain is just to dominant in all forms but I am still proud that they made it as far as they did as they were not even expected to get out of the group. All in all it was a great tournament with some great moments, and congrats to spain for making history as they were the better team today, but not through out the whole tournament.
