View Full Version : 2011 GT stock height vs 2011 GS stock height
I cant seem to find an answer to this. Maybe someone that works at a mazda dealer parts dept. can chime in on this.
Is the stock height of a 2011 gt lower than stock height of a gs? For some reason the wheel gap looks bigger on a gs. I doubt it's due to the difference in rim size because the overall diameters should be the same. So do gt's use a different strut/spring combination?

I'd put $20 that it's not different.
Maybe the gt weighs a bit more, but they are definitely on the same springs.

I doubt the heights are any different within their acceptable tolerance. The different is just the visual effect of larger rims leading the eye or brain to interpret the wheel gap as smaller. I went from 15 inch to 17 inch on stock height and the wheel gap looked smaller to me.

You might be right with the weight difference. Possibly in the difference between the 2.0 and 2.5?
And yes it may be the illusion of bigger rims. I was just wondering if there was an actual difference in oem part numbers.
I guess to find out for sure ill bring a tape measure in the car and next time I see a gs I'll just quickly measure wheel gap lol

i always thought that bigger rims\tires would mean a smaller wheel gap lol

AFAIK its the same height. I bet the larger rims give the illusion that the wheel gap is smaller.

Usually with the bigger rims, you get "Smaller" tires, so that the overall diameter/radius/circum. is all ways the same. Usually there's like a what 3% max difference.

I think it's this too. I doubt there's really an actual (or noticeable) difference in height though.
I verified what I thought. Compared side by side with a gs today. It definitely is higher. By quite a bit I might say. I'll post some pics either tonight or tomorrow.

In the trunk all I've got is a regular computer tower, few car cleaning supplies, and the stock airbox. Nothing really significant in weight.
oh and a full tank of gas. Would that really make that big of a difference though? My height in the rear never goes up that high when I'm on empty
Just looked at a pic I took a few days ago at 1/4 tank. No real significant difference when full.

Take a tape measure and measure the total diameter of each tire

They are the same springs and suspention. Go to a parts dealer and cross reference the springs/shocks and suspention arms. They are the same. The only difference is Hatch or Sedan. It's the bigger wheels. Those tires are not that much bigger. The 16inch tire is a few mm thicker
