Interesting ... though I would lean towards agreeing with the decision. To me, it is an obstruction of justice and obstructing a police officer.

The US can be completely different per state. There could be a law somewhere that restricts letting others know of a speed trap ahead without a penalty of some sort. I'm not sure if there are but who knows and I don't feel like looking it up lol.

I always flash oncoming cars if there is a "speed trap". I would hope others would do the same. Its common courtesy, because we all speed sometimes.

So how would it be any different than it is now?

Even if it was in a school zone? Frankly if you're in the city, you should not exceed the posted speed limit. On the highway, that is another matter altogether.

Get over it!!! Everyone exceeds the speed limit. Whether it be 1km/h or 20km/h. Dont give me that mightier than thou bull sh*t!!!!
I dont condone driving like an ******* and speeding through school zones/residential areas. I always yell at the soccer moms who speed through the residential areas while kids are playing in the street and they have their kids in the car. Whats the difference if im doing 10-20km/h over the limit on Steeles, Finch, Hwy 7, hwy 400, hwy 9? Its all the same shit. If you get caught you get caught and its the same fine.
Regardless of the fact everyone speeds, city, rural or highway shouldnt matter. Flashing your lights to signal other drivers is a common courtesy that frankly is not practiced as much as it used to be and people should start doing it more.

I will never warn drivers against a speedtrap in a School zone during or near school hours.
I will ALWAYS warn people about cops on the highway or local roads. Some speed limits make no sense, vacant roads, no houses just farms, speed limit is 50km... Who's not going to speed that?
I don't like drivers that go crazy over the limit, but some is always understandable. However around schoolzones and parks is where cops should really be sitting with speed traps, as thats where the biggest danger is and no one should ever be speeding along those areas, especially during peak times.
On another note I wish it was illegal for kids to skateboard and bike down the middle of the road. Those kids should be the ones getting fined, half the time they hold up traffic and make it scary to drive down the road, they even run red lights going down hills. Use the sidewalk, safer the kids run over someone walking on the sidewalk with their boards than run into a car and/or slow down traffic.

Why encourage it as it will re-enforce the speeding entitlement?
Do you feel the same way about:
running a red light for a left turn
failing to yield to pedestrians at intersections where they are crossing with a green
turning without signalling
following to closely
passing on the highway shoulder or merge lane
texting/talking on a mobile device while driving
If I came across as an "holier than thou" twit, well, I'm far from being that.
From my younger impatient years, if you intend to speed then do so intelligently by:
never speed if no one else is
always let someone else ride shotgun
typical speed trap locations are at bridge underpasses or just after curves
if you see brakelights flashing in the distance, there's a trap

all true, but I still flash my beams when i see a trap. I really is courteous

IMHO if you don't even warn your friends about speed traps you're a pretty garbage friend. I guess it depends on your morals/loyalties though. I'd say your morals are displaced for not warning them and caring more about the public, others would say mine are displaced for being selfish as to only care about my friends and not the public at large.

Speed traps are mobile so unless your friends are using the same route at the same time, warning them about it is pretty futile.
Correction knowing how predictable they have become, may be not.

the woman wasn't jailed for warning of a speed trap...she was jailed for "standing on the road".
Plummer was then arrested for allegedly standing in the street when there was a sidewalk present. Plummer tells local news that she never left the sidewalk, and she claims that the arresting officer threatened her with an arrest for obstructing justice, which is a felony offence.
also, Eric Lai and Jim Kenzie already did their own investigation on flashing high beams to warn other drivers (http://www.wheels.ca/news/can-i-get-a-ticket-for-flashing-high-beams-to-warn-drivers-1047/)
Traffic tickets are issued at police discretion. However, interpretation of the law is up to the courts.
In past, my colleague Jim Kenzie and myself took police to task for improperly ticketing drivers who flashed their headlights in daytime to warn oncoming drivers that they were approaching a speed trap.
The courts ruled this specific action was not illegal and that charges under section 162(2) HTA, which prohibits alternating high-beams on vehicles other than emergency vehicles, did not apply. All outstanding charges were tossed and police no longer issue such tickets at the direction of the Solicitor General.
Surprisingly, some critics — citing that the questionable police tactic was done “in the best interest of public safety” — took issue with our defending the driving public against an unlawful practice. To that, I’ll say the job of police is to enforce the law as it is written — not to extend it to circumstances where the courts have ruled that it clearly does not apply.

There is a reason they are called speed traps.. The police go to known areas where the posted limit is too low. They hide and then catch people who are driving a very capable and safe speed only to make a buck.
It's a FACT that speeding does not cause accidents. Bad drivers do... so until cops start going after people who can't drive worth a shit.. speeding tickets are BS.. The only time where speeds need to be checked are in school zones to protect dumb kids who run into the street.
The whole point of giving out tickets are to slow speeders down in that area.. If she is warning them ahead of time then she's still slowing the vehicles down. I wish people here would get off there asses and start fighting back against this police state shit.
Police should be off fighting real crime and saving lives.. Not sitting in a van with there thumbs up there ass sitting on a freeway at 11pm at night making sure that people who are going 11km over the limit get a fine.

Care to cite references to support your hypothesis that "speeding does not cause accidents. Bad drivers do"?
Frankly a good driver will slow down and drive more cautiously in a school zone. Otherwise those who do not better be prepared to accept the consequences if they do hit a Darwin candidate. Also a good driver will drive at speeds suitable to the existing conditions, including the anticipation of the idiot BAD drivers.
chill out.........

Driving for suitable conditions does not mean following the speed limit. Driving for conditions and driving the limit are different things.
http://caaneo.ca/about/blog/driving/10-leading-causes-of-car-accidents-and-tips-to-avoid-them
speeding is number 9 on the list so that accounts for about 5% of accidents.. Even then I don't think they are really accounting for what caused the accident.
Why should I chill out?? Are you going to be chill if a bad driver hurts you or someone you know?? Because the police are too busy catching people who speed.. You sure won't. The police/gov simply want to generate revenue from tickets. While they let bad drivers on the road.. It's them and companies letting bad drivers on the road. Means more vehicles sold, more liscences, more registrations, more accidents means more money for insurance companies.. Wake up man.

jeez:
"8. Speeding – The faster a car speeds along a highway, the higher the probability of a fatal accident. Even so, people tend to speed with alarming frequency. More concerning is the increasing tendency of drivers to speed through residential areas. What many people fail to consider is that the faster you travel, the harder it becomes to stop. This makes the potential for disaster immense when speeding in residential neighbourhoods. The remedy of course is to drive the posted speed limit, especially in suburban areas, school zones and urban side streets."
By the way, I already went face first through a windshield due to a careless suspended driver who failed to yield the right of way at an intersection. The police were not there to PREVENT this as it is next to impossible for them to be everywhere. I accept that. From your previous postings, you were caught breaking the law. Man up and quit being such a female canine.

Thanks for pulling out the physics.. According to that logic depending on your brakes, driving ability and mass should determine how fast you can travel.. My point being 5% of accidents is much much much less than 95% of accidents caused by the other 9...
Right and who gave him the license.. He was a bad driver...why did he calculate the risks of punishment were not enough to prevent him driving suspended.
What are you talking about?? My previous posts..
