View Full Version : Performance brakes that are QUIET
Its time for new brake pads soon! I upgraded my brake pads from stock to Hawk HP+ last fall...I LOVED the stopping power but I hated the noise.
What brake pads are available that will perform similar to the HP+ but are quiet?
I know I cant have the best of every world...what brake pads are a good compromise? I do about 3 lapping days/yr, 20 autocross events/yr, daily drive 150km/week.
Is there a brake pad that exists with the stopping power of HP+, are quiet, dont require frequent bedding, good bite?

Street performance is good enough for what you want to do. They made slight noise at the beginning but after I wore em in they were quiet and stopping power is amazing. No brake fade after lots of abuse.
I tried zzz3's car on the autocross course, he had stoptech pads...not sure which one, but it still left a little bit more to be desired.
Are posi-quiets actually quiet?...or is the claim that they are quiet for semi-metallic pads?

i have hawk ceramic on my car and love them. good bite, low dust and quiet.
Will ceramics hold up to occasional track use? Does it stop better than HPS? It is rated as performance street...
According to the sticky, these are the Street / Track / Autocross / HDPE Pads Front pads...
-Porterfield AP-1044 R4-S
-Carbotech CT1044 Bobcat
-Carbotech CT1044 Panther Plus
-OMP OT-8020
-GrandSport(Satified) GS-5
Can anyone comment as to the performance/noise aspect?
Also I hear EBC Yellows and Ultimate pads may be good for my use?

EBC is NOISY
It is hard to find a performance pad that will be very quiet... you can't really have the best of both worlds in this situation.

I got HP+ lately and love it on the track but hate it as a DD. I decided to put them on only a few days before tracks and remove them after track.

I'm thinking this will be the only way I can do it....Maybe I'll get stoptechs for the street and HP+ Fronts for the track...
