After some extensive reading and googling, I came across a product called Ultra-Gauge

I believe it was discussed heavily on Mazda Speed Forums;

Product shipping was blazing fast, I recieved it 1 day after ordering. (From US to Canada... wow)

If you're looking for a cheaper alternative to the Access Port or Scan Gauge product, this is it.

It allows you to customize and set up to 8 pages of gauges, with a maximum of 8 gauges per page.

Upon plugging it into the ODBII port it automatically detects the car, and loads all the possible gauges into the settings.

I use it to monitor engine temp, fuel PSI, voltages, Boost PSI, and a few others.... set to 2 pages 4 gauges a page. Automatically changes pages every 10 seconds.

This is all customizable and totally user friendly.

Grand total of $100.00 USD w/ shipping, for the version with suction cup mount and all the goodies.

The only thing this gauge doesn't do is log and record , but I suggest you check out their webpage and read up on the features it does have

I will take some pictures of my installation this weekend so everyone can see how it fits

This is not a replacement for AP in any way as it doesn't tune. If anything this replaces the dash hawk.
But DH and aeroforce log which is super useful.

I was about to get one but it doesn't monitor transmission temp like dash hawk.

I have a scangaugeII in my truck and love it, gives real time data...The guy I bought it from was upgrading to an Ultra Gauge..For the $ they cost and the benefits they give it is a great buy.

Yeah guy this isn't a 'buy this because its better than an AP', of course a $60 product is not going to match to a $500 product

It was a review, plain and simple

It works well for what I needed, mainly engine temp and monitoring fuel pressure

There was never any argument over whether it works well or not.

I was just commenting on the bolded part comparing it to AP, DH, AF

Yes, I suppose my wording could use some work as it might sound like they are comparable

If anyone buys it expecting it to perform the same functions, then I have a pet rock they might be interested in as well :)

Dash picture, it sits quite nicely in the bottom corner of the windscreen

Cable is routed down into the port, and then tucked in behind the empty space to the left of the steering column

Still working great as the day I bought it.

It gives me the peace of mind when I glance over, and can see the engine temp easily.

I did notice one day in very heavy start-stop highway driving that the engine temp was sitting quite high... never would have known otherwise!

Also the recent very cold / mild temperature changes haven't affected the display in the least

Will this let you see all of the sensors for the new etest? I would like to have an OBD2 scanner to check the sensors before going for an etest.

The ultraguage will allow you to read and clear engine codes

midnightfxgt

As well as like a handheld scanner would? I am very worried about the new etest and want something I can see all of the sensors etc before going in.

No idea if its as good, but if a member wants, it's the weekend and I can meet up with somebody and give er a shot. I've been very impressed with it so far

i dont think this will monitor the sensors in real time if your asking. if anything, itll probably read a pending code if something is wrong.

greyseason

I dont believe that this will monitor O2, but ive made a quick, crappy vid with what the ultraguage can do.

LOL. :chuckle :chuckle So where are the pics showing the screen whilst cruising down the highway?? :P Did you calibrate it? How much was it and where?

greyseason

I just calibrated it to have a 55ltr gas tank and mine was $100 ordered online lol

From their website directly?? It says $60.95 now (after $9 mail in rebate). Were you charged any duties/taxes when you received it? How fast did it take to receive after ordering?

And most importantly, can you switch the units from MPG to L/100km or use metric units?

Yeah and I ordered the windshield mount which is a pos that doesn't work, so don't buy that. I think I was charged $20 or $30 for duties but apparently not everybody gets their package checked. It came quick, < a week and yes you can select either mpg or l/100 km

Is that the "pos mount" you bought with it in your pics above?

No the one in the picture I bought at factory direct for $20. The one they gave me, was rigid, and the angle to put it on your windshield made it point down, making it totally unusable. I threw it out. I also got the flat? Mount. It's a mug sizes circle of 3M tape. Save yourself the $10 and just buy the UG and buy a mount from somewhere else.

sarujo
05-05-2013, 09:11 AM
greyseason - please post some shots of the UG while you are driving on the hwy so we can get a good idea of the actual fuel consumption numbers. Leave the A/C off and electronics while cruising at 100km/h on a flat stretch after the car is nice and warm. Do it without any other passengers, and check to see your tires are inflated to the door sticker PSI.

One last thing..and have the unit display L/100km please.

greyseason
05-05-2013, 09:38 AM
For sure I can. Do you only want l/100km?

The one problem I seem to have, is while I'm driving, I have my average mpg and in instantaneous mpg. My average is like 44.6 or something. I'm not getting 44mpg all the time, so I can never really go as far as it says I can.

Also, maybe it's because it's a sky, I don't know, I can get some pretty high numbers (I.e like 70mpg under very light conditions, but that's Also my instantaneous, which I have no idea as to if it's that accurate. I hope this makes sense haha. Just woke up
