My heart cries out for these senseless acts of violence. The BBQ shooting was just up the street from my house. I could have been there, people I knew were there...
Even those in Colorado, to whom I have no connection, I have upmost sympathy for them. Anyone thats EVER lost anyone close to them in their lives, knows the drowning sadness it brings and how destructive it can be to the family, and yet here- we have so many dead. This is just sickening.
No amount of reading, writing and studying of deviance and criminal behaviour, will ever explain to me how someone could commit such heinous acts.

Such sad news. The other sad part is this:
A California woman who identified herself as the mother of James Holmes, the 24-year-old man federal authorities said is the suspect in a mass shooting in an Aurora, Colorado movie theater, told ABC News her son was likely the culprit, saying, "You have the right person."
http://news.yahoo.com/aurora-dark-knight-shooting-suspect-identified-james-holmes-115717096--abc-news-topstories.html
and whats also sad is one of the victims who died was an eye witness to the eaton center shooting not long ago and just missed getting hitting. She was down here visiting. Escaped death nearly there but the same fate caught up with her the other night. All this gun violence lately everywhere is a complete joke. This article below is actually pretty scary about how informative the witness say everything was and the videos.

What is even more messed up is that the shooter painted his hair red and called himself the joker. Told the police he was Batmans arch nemesis.

I'll tell you whats wrong with the people thats comiting this random attacks; MWF and all the video games where gun violence is the main feature, we got to understand that not everybody separates reallity from fiction the same way than others and the way this guy planned and executed the shooting is just like an scene from mwf, there is people that spend 12-20 or more hours playing this games and that becomes part of their reality, these have not been terrorist attacks, so where is this violence against radom people coming from?
Just my personal opinion and I do own a copy of mwf for those wondering.

I'm surprised to hear this opinion on tm3. Video games don't kill people, people with guns kill people. Besides violent movies are much more prevalent then video games. Don't buy into fox news / cnn propaganda.
Proper parenting is the problem - case in point the mother says you have the right guy. Obviously there were signs then. People just can't take responsibility so they try to find a scapegoat.

I know alot of people that own guns and they are not going around killing people, or dressing up like commandoes or enacting their own scenes from movies etc;
Remember guns don't kill people, not all people with guns kill people (In General), only certain people with guns kill people. No one knows for certain why certain people decide they are going to massacre others, but there have been studies. True, alot may stem from the parents but it also has been "suggested" that immersion into violent video games and /or movies could be a phycological cause.

Bottom line is people who have guns or have easier access to guns are more likely to shoot a place up. IMO any handgun should be banned. Would they move onto a hunting rifle probably.. But you can't shoot up a place when you are using a basic rifle.
bottom line is these fools need be given life with no parole, no bail or any other of that bs for taking another person(s) lives. Has nothing to do with movies or games, it all originates with family and childhood problems. No one knows what these people have been through or constantly go through each day, but this is getting absolutely ridiculous now, another 4 people shot last night..up to 76 people in 4 days have been involved with gun violence and death..sickening

If the reasoning for someone doing something like this is "Video Games" there's a bigger issue in that persons life. If they can't separate a violent video game from real life there are other mental and/or parental issues in that persons life.
On the other note the guy claimed to be joker and then started shooting, so this isn't about video games to begin with.

1) Yes thanks for clarifying. My point was that it's not video games killing people, but unstable people with access to guns killing people. Yes most gun owners are fairly responsible. However it's hard to argue that the more accessible guns are, the greater likelihood there is for gun related incidents. Gun accessibility would contribute far more to violence then video games.
2) "Suggested" doesn't prove causation. There haven't been very good studies done about this kind of thing. In fact, there are studies that prove that video games can promote social interaction as well. Basically my point is that this argument is not founded on anything and therefore is just a scare tactic from media outlets with absolutely nothing to back it up.

Even if gun control measures were put in place a nobody could own a gun, there would be a market for them on the street, and even more so since they're illegal elsewhere. Take drugs or alcohol during prohibition as an example of this.
This guy is mentally ill, it's obvious. Nobody in their right mind walks into a movie theater dressed like the juggernaut and blows away 70 some-odd people with various firearms. What got him so far gone would be interesting to know, and even more so why nobody intervened sooner (it seems he has family).
I'm on the side that if someone else in that theater had a gun, this would never had gone as far as it did.
