You've made some great threads...

Yes they are, as are 99.9% of the cars on the road. Unless you drive a 599 GTO, chances are you'll have a plastic bumper.

It's plastic.... I don't think you will find a car now a days with metal bumper

(it is reinforst with steel in behind with foam padding.... The out side is the only thing plastic)

It is true our "bumpers" are made of plastic. This is the case with almost all cars built in the past 15-20 years. Hell, even my 82 Datsun and my brother's 77 Firebird featured this kind of construction, so it definitely is nothing new or exciting.

Actually though, what you see on the outside is just a piece of bodywork. The real bumper underneath is steel. Again, this has been the case with virtually all cars for decades. About the only vehicles you see with exposed metal bumpers any more are some full-size pickups and even there it seems to be only the rear bumper in most cases.

Oh we're going to have fun.

It will cost about $200 to fix that probably (if you can), OR probably $700 for new bumper and paint.

Phil made a friend!

Try a DIY. CT has some dent removal tools or wait for a GB on dent removal.

Made my day.. by no means are the bumpers cheap because its plastic, its lighter, it will flex if hit where fiber glass and carbon fiber will splinter and shatter. so just because its plastic is doesnt make it cheap as others have said 99.9999999 % of all cars on the road have plastic bumpers.

I replaced my bumper last year... I had the same damage as you. Car star told me it would cost more to fix mine then it would be to replace it.

So bought a new one from dealer $300 with discount and I paid another $250 to have it painted... I installed it my self... Total cost was $550
