View Full Version : TM3 needs a mobile app!

I don't know if that was mentioned before or not or if TM3 already has an app but it would be very handy. Although safari is pretty fast on my iPhone, I think an app would make it faster and easier to navigate. Hope TM3 looks into it as a possibility.

As soon as you code one they'll host it.
OR you could use tapatalk like everyone else.

I was thinking the same thing, it is a good idea, but the cost can be significant, not to just develop it but also maintain it as bugs get reported and OS gets updated...
I don't see this happening anytime soon...

Or ever...lol.
Or ever...lol.
PLUS given the fact that we have an overly biased Apple fan base... my Android will be left in the dark :P

I'm just waiting to get some more input before I lock this. If I thought there might be a slight chance it would happen I would let it go.

I asked this question in the Friday thread a long long time ago.
Oh, here's a thread about this. Shows how the search function does work at times.

Go to tm3 main page on iPhone.
Clickhttp://img.tapatalk.com/4ac60983-f580-e5f4.jpg
Then click add to home page.
If you want to get taptalk it is well worth it. Especially since the last update. You can see all the vids and stuff.

Yep! I've also created a nice home screen icon for iPhone users as well. :)

It's tapatalk, my mistake.
It's an app to make forums easier to read. I actually prefer it to my comp
It looks like this.

And if you pay for it( as an add on) they will host pics.
this is what my image tag looks like.

Tapatalk is the way to go. Never understood why forums have their own individual apps (I HATE getting those notifications when I show up somewhere on my iPad). On the iPad I want the regular forum, on my phone I want Tapatalk since I can put all my forums in the same app.
Yes it costs a few bucks but its well worth it.
Unless there is RAGING demand for a stand-alone app, or a good reason why Tapatalk isn't the answer, lock 'er up.

If members were willing to pay for the app, then it could happen, but I doubt anyone would want to pay for something thats basically tapatalk but only works for this forum...that being said, I've thought of this before too, cool idea, just not practical I guess.

A more practical idea is for sites to install the mobile version of phpBB or vBulletin. For us it would be vBulletin. But we've had that discussion too and there were issues with the mobile versions and stuff. So for now just get tapatalk or deal with using safari or whatever browser your phone has.

Pretty sure tapatalk is multi-platform.

Tapatalk for BB is pretty awful, but it is free (beta)

A mobile version of the site would be nice also. Tapatalk does look like the kind of app I wanted for this forum.

Yup, mobile would be great, but not going to happen right now.
Glad you like tapatalk.
Let's lock 'er up.

Tapatalk is awesome, and has served me well on two Android phones to date.
Don't really see a role for a dedicated app, personally.

Honestly I had my reservations about Tapatalk too at first. This year I discovered I can moderate on it too, it really does 95% of what's needed.

Ehhh, that's true, but it's still a great app. Plus it's pretty much the de facto standard for mobile forums, so chances are you can also use it with any other forums you visit. (e.g. Ottawa Mazda Club)
Besides, $3 for all the TM3-mobile goodness I can handle? Sounds like a good deal to me.

What advantages does Tapatalk have over my iPhone Safari? Safari works great imo.

It's simpler. It's faster. And it's VERY easy to use.

It's just easier to use. A lot easier. I rarely use my computer for the forum anymore.

Unless someone volunteers to build a dedicated iOS and/or Android app for the forum, you're not going to get a TM3 app for free.

I think people don't realize the amount of work that goes into making an app, lol...I mean, with all this interest someone would do it free, but I'm sure they'd want to run ads on it and take the majority of the profit. Nobodys going to meticulously design icons and images and then string them together in never-ending pages of code, and then regularly debug issues that appear, without getting something out of it.

Even then. Wouldn't it have to go through apples approval process to be available in the app store?
