The days is coming...I'm selling my car soon :(

So i'm going away to school in the fall and won't need my car anymore.

Just wondering what the Mazda community thinks it is worth.

2005 Mazda 3 hatchback sport (red)
-150,000km
-A/T
-stock 17in rims/tires with 3 season
-16 steelies/tires with 3 seasons
-every option from the factory except 6 disc cd changer and heated seats
-23% tint all around
-All other mods else will be put back to stock

I am the second owner.
The car has typical rust around the side pillars and wheel wells.

I'm thinking it's worth 5-6.5k. Thoughts?

If a private sale, probably what you stated. Dealer will offer you around $5000 to $5500.

I put in average asking price instead of trade-in value

thats asking, I normally count on 13% above trade in as my best case for private sale which is the tax you'd save trading it in unless there are other factors like exceptional condition, rare model or options etc. Based on the rust around the sides I think you'd get no more than 4,000 from a dealer or about 5,000 privately but feel free to aim for more

The rust isn't that bad. It's just bubbled a bit on the sides and you can't notice it around the wheel wells.

Private sale, you're in the ballpark with $5-6,500 based on similar cars in Autotrader. Put in the ad that it's a GT with a 2.3 L engine.

Id say closer to 6k from what I was finding when I was shopping for mine (in March).

fix the developing rust and you'll get a higher resale value, especially if the rust is too obvious.

I put touch up paint around the wheel wells some time ago and its held up fine.
As for the side pillars, they are bubbly, but you can't tell from far away because it's black.
Anyway way to fix that?
